Aonung POV
I paced back and fourth for a while outside the Sully home. I peaked inside his home to check on Neteyam. I wasn't told if he was okay or not. My sister called out to me and waved me over from our own home. I slowly made my way over to her. She could see that I was on the verge of tears.
"I messed up Tsireya. If he dies... The last things I said to him were so hateful. I tried to apologize," I looked at her as I started to cry. "He told me that it was okay and that we would talk later. But look where we are now. I basically told him that I hate him. That's not how I want things to end. I don't want him to pass on to Eywa and that be one of our last memories together.
"You made a mistake and you know you did. That's all he'd care about. Now, I spoke with Lo'ak. He said that he'd come get you when you can visit him okay? You just need to be patient," My sister spoke with a soft voice, calming my nerves.
I nodded and went back into our home to pass the time. I looked at the doorway every once in a while to check if Neteyam's brother came for me. My mother told me to stop checking and relax and clear my mind. I sighed and listened to my mother, knowing she was right.
It was many hours later when I heard my name called by Lo'ak. I had slept through most of the time I spent waiting. Once I saw him, I got up as fast as I could and went to go see Neteyam. When I walked in, his mother looked at me and she didn't seem too pleased that I was there. I didn't meet her eyes. I know she was aware of the things I said.
"He's fine, Aonung. He's gonna pull through. Your mother checked on him while you slept. He should wake up by tomorrow," Lo'ak explained, sitting next to his brother and waiting for me to follow.
"Thank you for coming to get me Lo'ak. I am surprised you allowed me to see him," I breathed out, tears forming in my eyes as I sat and looked at Neteyam as he rested.
"My bro cares about you, so I will respect him and let you see him," He responded, taking his brother's hand.
I stayed through out the night and when his family went out that morning. I didn't want him to wake up and suddenly be alone. I had fallen asleep and didn't expect to over sleep with the possibility that he might wake up be fore me

Neteyam POV
I felt a pain in my chest as I came to in my home. It took a moment for me to realize that I was in the Metkayina village. I sat up slowly and clenched my chest. I looked around to take in my surroundings. I looked to my side and felt a smile appear on my face, spotting Aonung next to me. I placed my hand on his cheek as he stirred, waking up a bit.
He met my eyes and he hugged me, careful of my wound. I felt his tears staining my shoulder, hearing him whisper sweet apologies to me. I hug him back gently, telling him it's okay and that I forgave him. I knew he still felt bad. My words did lighten his mood though.
"I thought I lost you. I didn't want things between us to end on such a terrible note. I wouldn't forgive myself, regardless whether you would end things or not, it wasn't how our relationship needed to end," He said to me not looking me in the eyes.
"I wasn't going to end things, Aonung. I said we would talk. And here we are," I smiled, moving hair from his face.
He smiled in return, and I could tell from the look on his face he wanted to stay with me and I wanted the same with him. His doubts sailed away when I gave him a gentle kiss on his forehead. I looked up to be met by my family in the doorway who cried a bit when they saw me awake.

Narrator POV
After what happened, the Sully decided that they needed to head back to the forest for the safety of their family. It was a sad parting for the children, but they promised their friends that they would return some day. And they had done just that.
Years had passed, and they had come back to the reefs. They received a warm welcome from the Metkayina. The children were greeted by their old friends quickly. The quick hugs and small kisses between Lo'ak and Tsireya. Kiri and Rotxo hugging.
"It's been a while huh, Aonung?" Neteyam stated, waving at Aonung who had become the leader.
"It has. I've missed you. Can we pick up where we had left off?" Aonung replied, taking Neteyam's hand and kissed it gently.
"I'd like that," Neteyam took his hand and helped him onto the back of his Ikran and they took off.
Aonung hugged Neteyam's waist and smiled. He missed riding with Neteyam on his Ikran. Neteyam missed these moments with Aonung too. They were glad to be older and with each other again. Tuk had stayed back at home with their parents and decided to stay in the forest.
Aonung and Neteyam flew around for hours together. Catching up with each other and telling one another of things that they looked forward to doing. When they landed and spend time alone, Aonung showed Neteyam all of the tattoos that he had earned with the passing of his rite of passage.
"Coming back to the reef after all these years, must have changed things huh?" Aonung began, getting Neteyam's attention from laying on the ground next to him, "Seeing so many of the other clan members. The beautiful woman here. There are plenty who seemingly had been keeping their eyes on you for you to choose from."
Neteyam sat up and turned Aonung to look at him as he spoke, "I have already chosen a man, but I know he must choose me in return. If he will have me."
Aonung looked at him for a moment, Neteyam tilting his head as he waited for an answer from his love. He waited years to see him again, and he would be heartbroken to be rejected after all these years. But, his answer came in the form of a gentle kiss to his lips and a nod from Aonung.
"He will have you. Forever and always he will. I. Will. Ma Neteyam, I will have you and love you for as long as I can," Aonung declared, cupping Neteyam's cheek, kissing him once again.
[I did it! I actually finished the story. Sorry I've been busy. But I will have another Neteyam x Aonung story out soon. But it will be them as Humans.
