"Charlie? Charlie" mom shakes me,

"What? What?" I ask leaning up slightly, she touches the bottom of her chin looking distressed

"Is there a hair, I can sort of feel it but I cant see it" I let out a breath and fall back into my pillow and turn on my phone

"Mom it's 2 am, what the fuck" I mumble bringing my hand to cover my eyes hoping sleep will over take me in the next five seconds

"Come on" She pokes me like a child

"Ask ginny" I mumble with my eyes closed

"She'll lock me out her room" she grumbles slightly

"Now Come. On" She repeats this topic she pokes me with a pair of tweezers

"Charlie I'm serious is there a hair" I let out a scoff as she leans over me with her chin facing the roof

"Jesus mom" I sigh turning the light on

"Come on hurry" She says panicked

"No mom there's no" I start, looking at her chin

"What?" She says quickly when I stop talking

"Yeah there's a hair, wow it's really long" I exaggerate

"Pluck it, its my first day I can't show up all Chewbacca" She says handing me the tweezers

"Is this about Paul?" I ask looking up at her

"No, it's about the fact that aging is a horrible inevitable death sentence where you're body betrays you slowly till you die. Pluck it" She says everything in one sentence making my eyes widen, at 2 am my brain didn't comprehend much of her words. I hold the tweezers to her chin but she turns to add something

"If I could skin you and wear your prepubescent face I would" She warns makimg me roll my eyes

"Stop talking Chewbacca" I state turning her face and pulling the damn hair

"Got it" I smile, holding it up for her to see, her eyes widen and her mouth is slightly agape as she studies it

"Oh this really bums me out" I chuckle softly before turning to her

"I'm going back to sleep now grandma" She pushes my head into the pullow like a child making me giggle

"Night peach" She says before closing the door, I lie there for another half an hour tossing and turning before I lock my door and make my way to my window, I let out a sigh of relief when I see Marcus's light on and I slowly make my way out my window before climbing down to the ground. I quickly cross the street and climb up to his window where I thankfully find him completly dresses and on his bed, I knock on the window, unlike him I have some manners, and watch as his head snaps from the TV to the window. A smirk takes over his face as he makes his way over, Marcus opens the window and smiles down at me

"What can I do for you Charlie Miller?" He asks with his head tilted to the side

"You have any weed?" I ask simply, he chuckles before stepping aside and letting me climb in. The room itself is basic, 4 walls a bed against one, a table, but what draws my attention is what's on the walls

"What you doing there?" I turn to him, he's started painting something but it's impossible to tell what it is yet

"It's a work in progress" he brushes it off before looking through his cupboard

"Could you paint something in my room?" I ask noticing the sketch books that clutter his desk and the amount of paint brushes and pencils grouped together in jars at different places in his room

"What?" He asks walking out his cupboard with a bag of already rolled weed

"I can draw but I can't paint and I want something on my wall but if I tried it would look aweful" I explain sitting on the floor infront of the window

"What do you want?" He asks grabbing a lighter before sitting down next to me

"Suprise me" I shrug

"So will you do it?" I ask, I almost think he'll reject the idea as he hesitates, rolling a blunt between his index finger and thumb

"Yeah sure" he nods before lighting the blunt and starting before handing it to me

"You think I can get free coffee if I work at Joe's?" I ask wishing more than anything I had a cup of caffeine right now

"Sure, but I don't think you'd get paid" I think about the cup of coffee I had the other day before answering

"It would be worth it, besides I'd force you to come visit me so that's a plus" I shrug

"You'd never have to force me to come see you" he states letting out a breath of smoke, my mind replays his words as silence surrounds us

"I uh, thunk I should head back" I clear my throat before standing up , he let's out a sigh before following up

"Thank you" I say crossing my arms crossed over my stomach

"For what?" He asks softly tucking a loose lock my hair behind my ear, it's these simple acts that get my heart racing

"For not leaving me out there" I chuckle softly bringing my eyes to meet his, that gorgous Marcus smile is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen

"I don't think I'd ever be able to say no to you" my breath gets stuck in my throat as he caresses my cheek and steps closer, I let out a small sigh of relief when he gently kisses my forehead. Truth is, if he had leaned forward and kissed me again I wouldn't have been strong enough to push him away again.

"Goodnight Charlie" he whispers stepping back slightly

"Night" I smile before climbing out his window, when I get back to my room and turn to close the curtains, something in my stomach bubbles when I catch Marcus still looking at me.

He gives me a solute and a smile before going back to bed, instead of sleeping for the last couple of hours I pull out my sketch book I have yet to use and grab my pencils and draw for the first time in months, thinking about the brown eyed boy across the street
