Chapter 5: Carlos and Evan Talk

POV: Evan Buckley

Evs, why didnt you tell me? asked Carlos

I didnt want to bother you. I said

Evs, you can never do that. Hey why dont we look at your photos and see which ones you want hung up. If you want Mom can scan them if you want to keep the originals. said Carlos, as he sat on my bed looking at Dannys and my blankets.

Mom made that for my 9th and last birthday with her, Dad and Danny. I said

Wow Evs, it reminds me of the blanket my Abuela made me when I was a baby. said Carlos

My room is a mess because I couldnt find it. I knew that Danny liked to leave little notes in the small pockets. While Mom was making it Danny would make little notes just in case I didnt save him. I would always know my big brother. It got to the point where Mom just made little holes in so that Danny could leave notes in. Mom and Dad even wrote some of the notes, so did my Grandparents on both sides. I put all the notes with the right person when I was eight and Mom put their names on it and gave it to me when I turned 9. I said

It is beautiful, can I ask what your favorite note is? asked Carlos

Never stop throwing that book at me. I love to see all the cute artwork you put in it. I said crying, pulling out that note which is the most worn out one.

Danny, wrote that didnt he? asked Carlos

Yes, then there's this one. The first time I got a book thrown at me was the day after my last hope and our Parents' Little Angel saved my life. Mom gave you a book to play with because all you wanted was me and you cried. Then Green Eggs and Ham, ended up on my lap. When I read that story, my baby brother crawled into my bed and layer there the rest of the day. The photo right here is the first thing that ever got put in my book. The photo of Danny reading Green Eggs and Ham, me and him falling asleep with me being close to Danny. I said

That is cute Evs, I wish I had a brother like that. said Carlos, I got off my bed and looked around my room for something while making my room more of a mess. Once I found the Camera that Mom took all the photos of Danny and Me. I get the old copy of The Lorax and write on the first white page. The Story of Evan Buckley and Carlos Reyes. I then jumped on my bed laying close to Carlos and took a photo of us. Once it came out, I fanned it and then I got out the book and put some tape on the photo and set it in the book under the tilted of the book.

Carlos, oh you are asleep. I said as I held the two books close to me and fell asleep on Carlos chest. With Dannys and Mine blankets on Carlos and me.

POV: Gabriel Reyes

Those two have been quiet for two hours, they did something. I said

Youre right let's go check on them. said Andrea

Guys they may just be asleep. said Lucy

No, not those two. I said, as the three of us went to Evans room.

Once we got there we saw Evan with two books open close to him. One says the Story of Evan Buckley and Daniel Buckley, with photos of Evan and a guy that Im guessing is Daniel. The second one is The Story of Evan Buckley and Carlos Reyes, with just one photo.

I go to move the two books, but Lucy stops me and Andrea takes a photo. I then moved the books, putting them on the nightstand. I then move the boys so that they are more on the bed. The last thing I do is put the two blankets back on the boys. Lucy then takes a photo and Andrea and I kiss both boys before turning off the nights and closing the door. We then walked out and went back downstairs. To talk, Andrea and Lucy said that they would get the two photos printed out and put them into the book when the boys are at school.

The next Morning I hear some yelling, I go to Evans room to see Carlos and Evan trying to find something. As I walked in something almost hit my head, but I caught it.

Boys, what is wrong? I asked

Evs, had a note on the bed and now its gone. said Carlos

Evan, is this it? I asked as I pulled a small old note out of The Lorax book.

Where was it? asked Evan crying and pulling it into his chest.

You fell asleep last night Kiddo and I put in this book. I said as I showed The Lorax book.

No, that goes in here. Danny gave me that. said Evan

Oh sorry Kid I didnt know. Now why dont you boys clean Evans room before school. I said

Okay Dad(Carlos) Papi(Evan) said both the boys

Once I leave I hear music playing and Evan singing.

You can sing too, Evs you are the coolest brother ever. Carlos said

Im your only brother. said Evan

No, you are my younger brother. said Carlos and I got confused

Carlos you dont have any other brother. said Evan

No, I have Danny too. said Carlos, as the boys came out of Evan's room and Evan had a big smile on his face, like the day he got on the Soccer Team.

You mean that, Cars? asked Evan

Yes, Danny would always be my brother because you are my brother. said Carlos

Im glad Doug wouldnt let me stay with him Cars. said Evan

Me too, the last one to Dads Truck has to sit in the back. said Carlos

Guys Lucy is driving you. I said

Cars, come on last one to Zia Lucys car is in the back. said Evan and the boys ran to her car.
