Sky awoke that morning with a renewed vigor, it had been two days since his attack in the church capital. There had been little to no response from the church or the Emperor about the robbery, although he had noticed the guards were patrolling quite a bit more than usual. He groaned as he rolled onto his side, the thin bedroll he had been sleeping on had done little for comfort, he might as well just sleep on the floor, but he liked the feeling of being in the bedroll. The blanket sewn over the top gave a nice feeling of entrapment while he slept. He always slept better when he was held tightly, however he definitely preferred it to be the arms of a woman instead of a dirty bedroll. Thankfully sweat and heat were almost no issue to him now, for he could simply force a cool breeze wherever he felt it most needed.
He always awoke before the others, as the new leader of Scad's little tribe of rebels he felt the need to wake the others, and he had to admit he enjoyed it quite a bit. The large warehouse they've been using as a base of operations was owned by Keys. His father had used it to store the grains his farm produced but after his father died Keys sold the farmland but kept onto the warehouse. Keys wasn't his real name of course, just like how Sky wasn't his real name either. If one of them were to be captured it would be much harder to give the guards information if they didn't know any names. Besides, Sky sounded a lot better than Skylark, it just didn't roll off the tongue.
Sky put his finger to his chin, thinking of the funniest way he could wake up the rest of his gang. He quietly snuck over to where Glory was sleeping, she was an incredibly loud snorer. As Sky approached the snoring stopped and her arm raised into the air. She had the largest muscles that Sky had ever seen, "Don't you fucking dare." She spoke as if still half asleep. 'How in the hells does she know when I'm coming?' Sky thought to himself as she watched Glory stumble to her feet and began to speak, "You all better get up, unless you want to wake up hovering upside down on the ceiling again." She spoke loudly and firmly. "But you have to admit that was pretty damn funny, Wolfie almost pissed his pants." Sky replied through a chuckle. Wolfie spoke up from across the room "If you keep up with this shit Sky, you better expect a coup d'etat in your near future." "Would yall just prefer an alarm bell?" Everyone replied with a strong "YES!" "Yall need to learn to have fun" Sky said as the crew rose to their feet and stumbled to the center office. 'These are your people, you must lead them.' Ao Feng spoke sternly, 'For an army is only as competent as the general.' "Wow Feng, those are some awfully wise words, maybe one day I'll actually listen."
The little office was nothing to gush over, just a simple wooden table with a scattering of chairs and a dark green chalk board at the front of the room. Sky began to distribute the morning's rations, everyone in the group was given two rice paddies and a hard boiled egg. Not the most intricate of meals, but more than enough. The group sat down and began to eat their breakfast.
There were 5 in the group; Glory, Keys, Wolfie, Vandal, and Sky. Everyone in the gang was a boon holder, making this group one of the strongest in Elliodel. The Emperor's inner circle was probably very strong, but they had the element of surprise. However for such a strong little group they held almost no power politically, but hopefully this was about to change. "Today's the big day!" Sky said sternly, "We need to make sure the plan goes off without a hitch." Keys spoke first, "Of course, we just need to kidnap a noble girl from her own wedding, convince her to give up her life of luxury, and her new husband to come sleep here on the cold hard ground. What could possibly go wrong?" Keys said in a slightly mocking tone. "Glos of course I was joking, you would think that you gods could develop a sense of humor." Keys was talking to his god, of course no one else could hear this glos, for the connection between a god and their boon holder was only between them. Everyone here was very used to listening to one sided conversations. "Well" Sky thought about what he was going to say. "You all were more than happy to leave your former lives and come join us here, who's to say she'll be different." "Of course I would take this over sleeping in the gutter." Wolfie chimed in, his northern accent harshly trilling over his last word. "Well this is the last of Scad's prophecies, I think this is going to go better than we thought.
