CHRIS HEMSWORTH as THOR ODINSON
I'm preserving the Jack Burton look, so he gets to wear the white undershirt throughout the movie. Ocassionally sporting the red Ravager jacket. He's still quite the goofball but has traces to his Shakespearean roots. He's almost like a Bill & Ted character.CHRISTIAN BALE as GORR
Having never read the comics, I'm going to preserve the look he has in the movie. He looks like an unholy monk. Someone who dedicated his whole life to his family and to his god. When the pettiness of the gods resulted the death of his planet and last of his family, he sets out to murder them all with the Necrosword. He knows he can't quite do that, given the infinite number of gods, but he won't stop until he himself is killed.NATALIE PORTMAN as JANE FOSTER (THE MIGHTY THOR)
She is in stage four cancer. She will die. With the hammer, she becomes an Asgardian warrior. Without, it reveals her true form of being frail and having already lost her hair. Her acquirement of the power of Thor delays her death and only delays it, with her knowing it. She fears death. She's unsure how to say good-bye to Thor as they've never even properly parted.CHRIS PRATT as PETER QUILL (STAR-LORD)
Thor's captain and friend. He unexpectedly connects with Jane as his mother went through a mirroring predicament. I've a specific fashion code for the Guardians for this re-write and that is they wouldn't appear out of place of Mad Max, Buckaroo Banzai, and Streets of Fire. I think the look he sported in the movie already fits this actually.TESSA THOMPSON as VALKYRIE
She's the queen of New Asgard - Queen, because I don't want her to seem just picking up where Thor left her. Her wear for battle is a shirt and legging, but covered in Asgardian armors. The shirt's supposed bear the MTV logo to be evocative of the '80s. Unfortunately, it's no longer the '80s and MTV isn't cool anymore. She have come to dislike her role as Queen, remorseful of having sent Sif to battle the God Butcher, and believes that she is meant to be a warrior, not a royal.AMY ADAMS as THE NORNS
The Norns are the deus ex machina and they reside exclusively in the Yggdrasil realm. I initially wanted the casting for the Norns to be allusive to other texts, but I eventually settled with Adams as the Norns are in a range of Princess Giselle to Peggy Dodd from The Master. Her wardrobe would draw influences of Ancient Greek, Roman, Norse, and Celtic. Perhaps even in green.I do have other candidates:
• UMA THURMAN. The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is one of the re-write's influences and the painting-esque appearance of Thurman's Venus is the aesthetic I'm aiming for the Norns' appearance and the Yggdrasil realm.
• FRANCES McDORMAND. A collaborator to (and wife to one of) Coens. As their works tend to be imbued with absurdism, I think it's fun to have McDormand playing as Fate.
• SHOREH AGHDASHLOO. She was set on a similar role in The Adjustment Bureau, but the scene was cut. She was denied of that role and we were denied what could've been a stronger ending to that film.
• GRETA GERWIG. The Norns played by an actress who's also writer-director seems fitting. I'm also a fan.
• SARAH POLLEY. Same reasoning as Gerwig. Could also be another allusion to Baron Munchausen. My brother also suggested Eva Green and Kathryn Hunter, though the latter would've been too on-the-nose with Joel Coens' Macbeth. Same reason I'm not going with Emma Thompson; she did Stranger Than Fiction. My brother also suggested Norwegian actresses for authenticity, but I'm not familiar with cinema of Norway.
RUSSELL CROWE as ZEUS
The Greek God of Lightning and the King of the Gods. Initially jovial, he reveals himself to be incredibly arrogant and disdainful of Asgardians and mortals. He even insinuated that he had an affair with Frigga, though this is probably only to provoke Thor. The entire plot happens because of him. He ordered the Norns to create the Necrosword so he could kill another god, whose lover, a goddess, Zeus has set his eyes on.DAVE BAUTISTA as DRAX
I try to explore a bit on his tragedy and an unexpected camradie with Thor. Drax is also the first to empathize with Gorr, having lost a daughter himself. His costume leans on Mad Max. His weapon of choice is a mock-up H&K G11. I'll dub it as the Phased Plasma Rifle with 40-watt range. He'd later lose it and pick up some Asgardian blades, though.BRADLEY COOPER as ROCKET
He maintains his title as master prison breaker by breaking the group free from Zeus' prison dungeon.KAREN GILLAN as NEBULA
Her costume leans Mad Max within the spectrum. As always, she's mean to everyone. She's to dual-wield two guns. One is a stock FN P90 and the other is mock-up Calico. Like Drax's G11, I want to feature guns '80s sci-fi movies deem looking futuristic.POM KLEMENTIEFF as MANTIS
She's first of the Guardians to learn that Jane is deathly ill, using her powers. She comes to friendly terms with Darcy.VIN DIESEL as GROOT
I am GrootSEAN GUNN as KRAGLIN
He likes to play a variation of rock, paper, scissors to determine who guards the Benatar as the Guardians venture on. His costume leans Streets of Fire in the spectrum.JAIMIE ALEXANDER as LADY SIF
Valkyrie sent her to kill the God Butcher but Sif lost the fight and her hand in the process. She would become despondent over this loss, until Valkyrie and Eitri light up her spirit once more. She wears a traditional Asgardian battle outfit.PETER DINKLAGE as EITRI
The blacksmith of New Asgard. He has various of tools that could be fitted in place of his missing hands. In battle, he fit them with meteor hammers.KAT DENNINGS as DARCY LEWIS
Jane's best friend.BILL HADER/SETH ROGEN as SKEV
If it's Hader, he'd have to channel a bit of Bill Murray. If it's Rogen, he'd have to channel a bit of John Candy. Skev's ship is based on the titular Summer Corvette.MASANOBU TAKAYAGI as director of photography
I'm fond of a particular scene in 'Hostiles', which he did for Scott Cooper. It was when the group found the bodies of Bale's underling and Ben Foster's character. The light had this ethereal quality. That's what I want for the Norns' scene. Except the background would look painted and the aspect ratio goes taller.MARK MOTHERSBAUGH as the composer.
He was a Devo, man. 'Love & Thunder' had many sins; not having this man return to score is one of them.
