Oculus and Helltaker slowly opened the door to the garage where Azazel had been taken to, Oculus looked hesitant to enter, but Taker noticed and observed, Oculus looked more reserved than she was in the past few days. She smiled and became withered and false, as though she were relieving something. Was it something in her mind?
Azazel, perhaps?
Did she think she should have told the others sooner?
Taker couldn't tell. He attempted to reach out, but before he could, Oculus shook her head as though to banish bad thoughts from her mind and quickly composed herself to enter the room. Her frown turned upside down as she looked at him and gave a nod.Taker knocked on the door, and Judgement replied
"You can come in, but please, don't disturb Azazel... She's... having a moment with Lucy and Justice."Taker opened the door slowly. The old joints squeak in protest.
As it swung open, Oculus looked past the towering stature of Helltaker and looked at Azazel, who was sitting face down on a chair.
She didn't seem to be crying, but even from this angle, Oculus could feel the aura of sadness surrounding her. In front of her was Lucifer, kneeling to look her straight in the eyes. They couldn't hear what they were talking about, but it was clear that Lucifer was trying to cheer her up. The queen of hell looked a little distressed, but she masked that emotion under layers of discipline and practiced deception.
Judgment approached the pair and said to them.
"She's not doing very well. She doesn't know what to think. Hell, she doesn't even know what to say."Oculus looked at Azazel one last time and then turned to face Helltaker.
"It's... it's just like in my visions..."
She bit her lower lip and placed her hand on her mouth, eyebrows sinking.
"Mr. Taker, may I have a word with you and Judgement in private?""Sure," Taker said, giving Judgement a nod, and the trio went into a corner of the garage.
There, Oculus turned around and said.
"Please, listen to me when I say this... This may sound crazy, and it sort of is, but we need to handle Azazel's fall very, very carefully."Judgment raised an eyebrow as she crossed her arms.
"What do you mean? What does your precognition show you?"Oculus replied
"I took a peek into the future, Azazel seemed friendly, so I tried to see a timeline in which we would become best friends... I found it, but I also saw another, much less desirable fate.""But we already know she's falling!" Judgment said.
She recoiled back and closed her eyes, her head tilting sideways as her mouth became flat.
"S-sorry for that outburst... It's just that... This is very tough for Azazel, me too, I... used to be an angel as well."Judgment cleared her throat. She looked back for a moment and overheard what Lucy was saying to the distressed angel.
"Azazel... Please, listen to me... I know it's hard, but you are -"
"No! It's not true!" Azazel said, placing her hands on her eyes.
"Angels don't fall. They never fall! Those are just horror stories spread by the church! They aren't real!"Lucifer looked at Azazel, her eyes revealing her sympathy as her eyebrows sank.
Azazel continued.
"B-but, this is for the sake of heaven. it's for the benefit of everyone who needs to know the way hell works and it's magic too!"
She turned to look at a mirror to her right and looked horrified. The Halo began to flicker and break apart more.
Fear set in, as Azazel tried to keep herself from crying. Her eyes began to water up, but Azazel was able to keep a somewhat composed form. Before she could say anything, Azazel suddenly felt the arms of Lucifer wrapping around her, grasping her tightly in a warm embrace.
"L-lucifer... I..." Azazel said.
