Kelly.

Six months later.

______

It was a few minutes after one in the morning when I got off work. I walked as briskly as I could to my car which was parked in the now almost empty parking lot at the hospital where I worked.

It has been three months since I graduated top of my class with honors. It was a bittersweet moment for me because Marco wasn't there and I also wished that my dad and my aunt were there. They both would've been so proud of me.

Marco didn't make it because he was too busy playing detective in Italy. I haven't been talking to him because of that. He's been begging for my forgiveness ever since but I keep on ignoring him. Loren, Tory, and Lorenzo were there to support me.

I was now living in a one-bedroom apartment closer to the city. I didn't move in with Marco even though he insisted. I still had the house that he bought for me but no one was living there at the moment.

My phone rang snapping me out of my thoughts and frightening me a bit. I looked at the screen and saw that it was Marco calling. I declined the call and turned the phone off.

I was almost at the spot where my car was parked when I heard footsteps coming close behind me. I thought that it must be Marco's men because he had insisted that I had protection even though I told him that I didn't need it.

I slowly stopped in my tracks and looked around. I didn't see anyone. I took out my car keys and proceeded to open the car door. Before I could do so, I smelled a strong masculine cologne and then I felt hands clasping around my neck and choking me. My back was turned toward the person.

I tried to fight back and free myself but I couldn't. My cell phone fell from my hands as my assailant tried to bash my head into the window of my car. I wanted to scream for help but I couldn't as I tried grasping for air.

I was able to finally get out of his hold and hurried inside my car. With trembling hands, I quickly put the keys in the ignition and started the car.

The person tried to shove his glove hand into the now broken car window but he wasn't able to. They then went and stood before the car as I tried to drive out of the parking lot, preventing me from doing so. That's when I got a good look at the assailant. This person was wearing a black mask, a black leather jacket, and blue jeans.

They decided not to get out of the way so, I had no other choice but to run them over. I was shaking like a leaf as I sped out of the parking lot.

Oh my, god! The person was dead. I didn't know what to do as I sped on the busy highway. I should probably call 911 and report it.

The only person who could help me was Marco but I didn't have a phone to call him. I didn't even remember that I was mad at him.

I was speeding way above the speed limit as I wondered what to do.

It wasn't long after, that I heard sirens blaring. I then looked in the rearview mirror and saw two police patrol cars hot on my heels. This was it for me. I was going to spend the rest of my life in a prison cell.

It was at that moment, that I decided, I was not going to jail. I took them on a high-speed chase as I tried to elude them but I didn't get very far. They caught up with me.

"Get out of the car and hold your hands up where we can see them." I heard a male police officer say as his voice echoed through the car megaphone.

My heart raced as I slowly got out of the car with my hands held up in defense.

They then grabbed me and slammed me to the ground like an animal. I lay there motionless on my stomach with my eyes wide open in fear.

Another then read me my Miranda right as he snapped the handcuffs on my wrists.

I swallowed silently as they shoved me into the back seat of the patrol car.
