Negan's POV:

A song I usually thought of as stupid, but students had gotten stuck into my head one year, popped into my head one night. "What A Man Gotta Do" by the Jonas Brothers.

It was a couple hours past nightfall, and I moved to the chair by my little window.

"Cut my heart about one, two times

Don't need to question the reason, I'm yours

I'm yours

I'd move the Earth or lose a fight just to see you smile

'Cause you got no flaws, no flaws

I'm not tryin' to be your part-time lover

Sign me up for that full-time, I'm yours

All yours

So, what a man gotta do?

What a man gotta do?

To be totally locked up by you

What a man gotta say?

What a man gotta pray?

To be your last "Good night" and your first "Good day"

So, what a man gotta do?

What a man gotta do?

To be totally locked up by you

What a man gotta do?

What a man gotta prove?

To be totally locked up by you

You ain't tryna be wasting time

On stupid people in cheap lines, I'm sure

I'm sure

So I'd give a million dollars just for you to grab me by the collar

And knock on these doors

These doors

I'm not tryin' to be your part-time lover

Sign me up for that full-time, I'm yours

I'm yours, woo

So, what a man gotta do?

What a man gotta do?

To be totally locked up by you

What a man gotta say?

What a man gotta pray?

To be your last "Good night" and your first "Good day"

So, what a man gotta do?

What a man gotta do?

To be totally locked up by you

What a man gotta do?

What a man gotta prove?

To be totally locked up by you

Tell me what a man gotta do

So, what a man gotta do?

What a man gotta do?

To be totally locked up by you

What a man gotta say?

What a man gotta pray?

To be your last "Good night" and your first "Good day"

So, what a man gotta do?

What a man gotta do?

To be totally locked up by you

What a man gotta do?

What a man gotta prove?

To be totally locked up by you."

She started giggling above me.

A smile tugged at my lips, "What's the laughter for, darlin?"

"Well, you technically are already locked up. Not by me but still," and she started giggling again.

I chuckled with her, "True, true. Couldn't help myself though. Song came to my mind and thought of you, Ma'am. Hope your day was well."

"It was.. Good night, Negan. Thank you."

"Good night, beautiful Lily."

Lily's POV:

Living above Negan had turned out better than many would've thought. I think we've even started to become friends. I honestly looked forward to our late night talks and singing.

It had been about a week since I had spoken to or sang with the criminal but as I made my way through my small apartment, I started swaying before collapsing and getting hit by a ragged cough.

"Lily?!" I heard his panicked voice call out.

I tried to speak but the coughing fit wasn't done with me yet and soon I was throwing up.

Negan's panicked shouting filled my ears when I wasn't puking. I was shaking and coughing again when Gabriel barged into my apartment.

"Lily? Oh my God."

And then my eyes rolled into my head, and I seized.

Negan's POV:

Night had just fallen not long ago. Lily was walking through her place above me and then suddenly I heard a loud bang. Like she fell.

"Lily?!" I called out to my window, not caring if anyone else heard.

No response, just coughing, groans, and then puking.

"Hey! Hey! Somebody! Hello! Somebody! Hey!"

I shouted repeatedly until someone finally came down the stairs and stood outside of my cell, a face filled with bewilderment.

"What the hell had gotten into you, Negan," the preacher Gabriel asked, brow raised and a look of frustration ever present on his face.

"No time for our usual banter, Father. Something is wrong with Lily," I informed him in a hurry.

His brows scrunched together, "How would you know…"

"It doesn't matter, God damnit, Gabriel!" I yelled, "Just go check on her!" I seethed, punching the wall beside me, turning away from his questioning look.

"Okay then," Gabriel muttered before leaving and then the sound of someone bursting into the apartment above me echoed through the floor.

Wasn't long till Gabriel was running past my window with Lily in his arms, probably towards the medical building.

She better be okay.

Looks like Gabriel might get one of his wishes, I thought as I fell to my knees and prayed for the first time since Lucille got her diagnosis.
