THE TALE OF Emerelda Bennett was special. Although it might not have seemed like it, nor did she ever believe it to be, it was.

Bennett Witches were extremely powerful. Emmy's mother was a powerful witch before her magic was drained of. Bonnie was a powerful telekinesis even though she had just discovered her magic. Her grandmother, Sheila, was a powerful witch in her prime. Emmy, on the other hand— wasn't that type of witch. She was different from her family. And she always was reminded of that.

Emerelda was what is called a siphoner witch. She was one of the first siphoner Bennett witches, and with that, she felt alone. She didn't think that she was as powerful as the rest of her family. She felt like a disappointment. Like an outcast.

But, oh, was she wrong.

Her family always told her she was special. Why? She had no clue. Usually, when you feel like an outsider in your own family, that's what they tell you.

But, Emmy being special wasn't just talk.

Dark Magic was the evil side of magic. It was the form of magic created by dark and evil souls far from saving or helping. Witches were taught that at a young age, you were either born with dark magic inside of you, or you could harness the black magic from the dark souls beyond the grave and draw power from them. But, that was forbidden, and it has been for quite some time.

Witches are to protect, not kill. They protect those, who cannot themselves, and hunt those who them. That was the witches code.

The good and bad souls had a different plan for a particular little witch.

An evil and good side Emerelda had. She was cursed with the violence, chaos and greed of the black souls, and the sweet and braveness of the bright souls. If she were to take in too much magic at a time, the dark souls inside of her would take over her entire mind and body, leaving her with a magic-hungry, powerful siphoner at hand.

Emmy was afraid of her power. She always was, ever since she was told about her power. When she was little, she dared to not use her magic. Over the years, being a witch and no using her magic was difficult. Especially, when living in Mystic Falls. But, she was always careful.

As a child, Emerelda was always told not to use her power. She was only to use it for emergencies only. But, just because she wasn't allowed to use her magic, doesn't mean she couldn't learn how to. She studied all her grandmother's books and anything else that had to do with magic growing up. She even learned about her family's history.

Emmy was two years older than Bonnie. Even though Bonnie hadn't even known witches were real back then, her older sister did.

WHEN, damon salvatore finally lets himself love, and a teenage girl drowning in grief and guilt finds herself falling at the hands of an irredeemable vampire.
