loneliness

somehow,
a familiar feeling——
(you realize it's been there all along.)
you knew it when
you sat in that group of girls
and they all laughed and laughed
and laughed
but you couldn't.

and suddenly
you felt that ache——
(that old, old ache.)
it flared up in your bones
and sunk down into your stomach
and hours later you
laid in bed and thought,
"where is the life
i've always longed for?"
