Chapter Thirty-One

Sarrettus grimaced as he watched the bombs fly into the Militia's headquarters. Stray blocks of deepslate fell through the sky, crushing his brethren.

"Move!" he yelled to some troops, gesturing to the cannons. They spread out and ran for the explosive launchers. More soldiers, realizing what they were doing, rallied behind them. Sarrettus dodged arrows, reminded painfully of Aegus' death. He dashed up the grass blocks, avoiding craters in the dirt.

"Picks out!" he yelled. Those who had pickaxes in their inventory began to chop at the cannons as the others slashed at the artillery's owners. Volleys of fire rang at those who had not yet made it up the hill. He cut at a skeleton archer just as it noticed his presence. The castle of his militia crumbled as the Netheran forces began to strike back against the four clans.

This was a bloodbath.

Thalleous chopped at a TNT cannon with several troopers, his sword sheathed on his back.

"Watch for arrows," he muttered as he dismantled the cannon. Blazes rattled fireballs from their thin ribs, occasionally setting redstone lines on fire and causing explosives to detonate in their chambers.

"We're finished, sir!" a soldier yelled to Thalleous.

The hilltop forest was being lit ablaze by the products of war, and as the surviving cannons continued to bang off shots, their castle decaying at lightning speed. Thalleous watched in horror as his home of many years was destroyed, the surrounding village razed, and if the invasion stretched far enough, his brother killed.

"Orders, sir?" the soldier said. Thalleous gritted his teeth.

"Push forward." he unsheathed his sword. "Into the fray we go."

Pythus grimaced as he watched his cannons destroyed. Grabbing his ax, he prepared to strike against the ardoni forces. He slashed through a Mendaris, watching its organs drip out of its abdomen. Preparing another assault, he ran through the crowds of ardoni, straight towards a cannon, swinging his axe in an arc of death.
