My name was Jude, Jude Marway and I was a 16 years old girl. My story was set in the Middle Ages, in

a small fishmonger's town called JELLYFISH. It all started when my parents were killed because of an

illness. I had to go and live with my uncle to avoid the orphanage.

My uncle was a very popular man with women. He was tall, had black hair and seemed very nice. His

only fault was that he had a limp. My uncle's house was one story and made of light and dark wood. It

was built on big, thick wooden beams. My uncle had kindly prepared a room for me in the attic. It was

small, with just a bed, a wardrobe and a window. During the day my uncle worked somewhere and at

night he disappeared.

One night I heard screams, I couldn't sleep, I got up from my bed and looked out of the window. I wiped

the glass of my little window with my sleeve and looked out at the main alley of the cemetery, and what

I saw made my blood run cold, a shadow had just come out of the streetlight when the lamplighter

turned it off. Why had he turned off the street light, his job was to turn it on? Who was this man? He was

limping like my uncle, with his left leg.

Suddenly, a shadow that had just come out of one of the street lamps turned its head and saw me. It

then started to fly towards me. It opened its mouth and covered me. I couldn't see anything and fell to

the ground. That night was the last time I got up from my bed.

A white light appeared before my eyes and I saw a woman. This woman has given birth, accompanied

by a man who must surely be her husband. The image changed and I saw a little girl of about 5 years

old running in a large meadow. It changed again and I saw myself stealing a red apple, red like blood.

The image changed and I saw myself arrested by the JELLYFISH authorities and taken to the guillotine.

The executioner limped towards me, took off his hood and looked at me. No, it can't be ! My uncle was

far too nice to be an executioner. My uncle took the rope and pulled on it.

That's when I felt my soul fly into one of the lampposts in the cemetery, specifically the one in the

middle where I was watching my soul fly out. No, no, no! I was locked up for good. Or so I thought.

The night after that tragedy. The fire extinguisher came up to my lamp post, looked at me and said

these words: "O God Almighty, may your soul be set free for good. Then I recognised him, my uncle. I

felt a strong wind blowing me into the other world.

It was then that I realised that my uncle was an executioner of the night. He separated the soul from the

body without releasing it. He was also a night extinguisher. He freed the souls trapped in the lampposts

of the cemetery.
