Awaiting what may never be

By james a. galgano

Such perennial insurrections impatiently awaiting each new safe and fair election.

Offering expectancy of what might perchance be one day true to rectify anew.

What promises made once heard we often felt like domino would be true?

Yet within the descending rectangle ominous beneath its fearful descent

One rents from such landlord of idle dreams often well beyond reach hope.

Distant relative to distant possibility found sleeping to cope within time's hallowed halls

Where echoes of endless prayers seek to prevent being crushed by time's roll call.

There one forever seeks salvation still within the loving embrace left behind.
