November 20th, 2021Loani household
sitting at the table was sovanna doing her math homework. ( more like crying but that's besides the point )
akora was in the kitchen currently cooking dinner when she heard the front door open. she immediately knew who it was
the eleven year old kenjia waltzed in the doorway and took off her shoes as she left the front door open, so only the glass screen door was closed. when the brunette woman stepped over to the little girl she saw Simu outside
he was on the phone, and laughing? the girls' fathers never laugh on phone calls apart from the three girls in the house
"who he's talking to pēpē?" ( baby ) the woman smiled at the girl watching her dad outside
but then she saw sovanna and instantly walked off "no idea makuahine!" ( mother ) kenjia began laughing at her older half sister
however the sixteen year old didn't like her little sister laughing
"ʻAʻole ʻakaʻaka ʻo kenjia!" a grimace was on the girls face as she cried over math homework ( kenjia stop laughing, it's not funny ) sovanna absolutely despised math and her little sister laughing at her was not helping
the two girls continued going back and forth in remarks for a few minutes
akora was in the kitchen and could see them "no thank you girls." a frown was on her her face and they could tell she wasn't very happy
"please, both of you apologize and then go in separate rooms."
sovanna glared at her little sister, while kenjia stuck her tongue. A few minutes after the girls went into separate rooms, the screen door was heard opening
akora peered over to see simu walking in,with a smile on his face......? This was very unusual for the woman to see and she expressed that on her face "Uh Simu? Is everything ok, did someone drug you."
teasing him she laughed and the male playfully rolled his eyes "Ha ha. very funny kora. Actually i just got off the phone with sovanna's agent and she said that she has a role for her to audition for."
of course he told the agent yes "But I was laughing because she said it's a marvel movie." Immediately akora chuckled half sarcastically
"Oh no, sovanna is not auditioning for a marvel movie." she shook her head "plus she has a lot going on right now, and I don't need her getting a bigger ego than she already has."
She gave a brief look as simu frowned
"Kora. She's sixteen, and this would be good for her career—" He was quickly cut off by now a less sarcastic Akora "Yeah and not good for her grades or social life.
"She'll be working with some of her idols. I think her social life will be fine." He let out a light laugh, but then saw the woman across death stare him "Simu. I'm thinking like her mother, not her career manager."
Both parents were now starting to feel the argument brewing. "Well then you're going to have a 16 year old sovanna angry with her mother."
He said in a straight tone, and crossed his arms. However it didn't land well and Akora angrily huffed "Ok Simu you know how dedicated and obsessed the fandom is. They aren't kind to new characters, especially people of color. You experienced it firsthand, and I'm sorry, but I won't let a 16 year old sovanna go through that." She threw his supposed threat back at him
"And I would rather have an angry daughter, than a depressed or even better yet, a dead one. I will not let her join, end of discussion." Her tone was firm and her eyes narrow
This meant the discussion was truly over. Simu knew Akora never got mad or blew up, he's only seen it 3 time with in the 20 years of knowing her
So he sighed and began walking away "Just know, you're taking away an once in a lifetime opportunity."
Hearing that sunk into the woman and made her realize that Simu is right. But, at the same time she can't risk her daughter getting an absurd amount of online hate
And even though they were talking alone, another set of ears was in the kitchen
