FOR ALL OF Marlene's life she took care
     of every one else before herself, starting
     with her parents and brother ending with
     every friend she made. She didn't know
     why she did it maybe because even at a
     young age that her brother needed all the
     support their parents could give, she just
     knows she's done it all her life.

Maybe that's also why she went into the same profession her dad and brother did, saving people's lives, being a firefighter and paramedic because she couldn't handle not trying to save everyone.

DID SHE hate that people questioned her
all time because she was the 'coaches
    daughter' when T.K. (her brother) messed
up all he got was a "try harder next time."
It especially ticked her off when he would
do the exact thing she did and get praised
    for it by team members but she would be
    told she was lucky her father was fire
    captain or she would be out of job, it's not
    like her brother noticed (his very oblivious)
    and she sure isn't going to her dad so she
    stuck with the trying to hit on her when not
    even a second before they were insulting
    her behind her back or if they're feeling
    generous right infront of her.

Which is why when a accident happened to
her grandmother it gave her more of reason to leave NYFD when she was already thinking about it when she got a offer to work at LAFD.
