Sharalyn's POV

Maverick stands on top of his ship, looking down at all of the peasants in the world. I turn to John and give him one last hug.

"Thank you for everything. Please, find yourself some happiness." He kissed my temple and nods.

"Stay safe." I nod and some guys come from the ship to help me with my bags. I recognize them as Boar and Rhodes. I never learned their real names because I didn't need to. With one final look at John, I board the ship. Once I am on the ship, I noticed some changes. It's weird to not see the wooden ship that's associated with their logo and branding.

Yes, Maverick is not actually a pirate. He owns a business that makes, produces, and sells quality yachts and ships to the average billionaire. He did abduct me, that part is true. And by abduct, he abducted my heart. Led me to him with his sweet words and promises. I was 18, young and dumb, looking for love. He still looks the same. Long black hair that's flowing down his back, a strong jawline, high cheekbones, a very lean and muscular figure, and his stupid pink full lips. Ugh, why does he have to be so attractive?

"Sharalyn." I gulped at the way he said my name. Damn him to hell!

"Yes, that's my name. Don't wear it out," I say, in a poor joking fashion. A loud guffaw echoed on the ship and I turn to see his other right-hand man, Finlay.

"Nice to see you again, lass! We've missed ya, ya know?" I smile at him and wave.

"Nice to see you too, Fin." Maverick still hasn't taken his eyes off of me since I got on the ship.

"Why don't we talk in my office? We have some things we need to discuss." I keep a strong hold on Corynn and nod.

"Fine. Lead the way." I follow him to his office that he has on deck, which is weird but whatever. He opens the door and ushers me in.

"Take a seat." I sit in one of the chairs and adjust Corynn on my shoulder. He sits on his desk and crosses his legs, keeping his dark brown eyes on me.

"You can't even believe to imagine how it feels to have you back where you belong, Shar. I've missed you. You and my daughter." I didn't say anything. I knew she was his. I found out I was pregnant the night I left. I knew it was his baby. But I couldn't stay.

"Did you really intend on her not knowing her father?" I roll my eyes.

"Her father is an egomaniac who doesn't know how to give the woman he 'supposedly' loves her freedom. You were so hellbent on keeping me here as your prisoner and breeding me until I gave birth to 7 of your children. You lead me to believe that I could be one with the ocean. Little did I know, you only wanted me as a trophy." Tears began to well in my eyes again.

"Just...don't tell me you wanted me back because you love me. I know that's a lie. I am not 18 years old anymore and I will not let you talk me into a false sense of love and security again." He gets up from his desk and cups my face.

"I did miss you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I loved waking up with you, taking rides along the Atlantic Ocean, and learning more and more about the seas. I know it seemed like my heart wasn't there but I promise you that it was." He took Corynn from my arms and set her down in a bassinet that I didn't realize was in there until just now. He grabbed my hands and stared deep into my eyes.

"There was a reason why I didn't go after you as soon as you left. I saw the pregnancy test in the trash. I didn't want to bombard you and cause you stress. I want you to be happy with me, I want more kids with you, and I want you to love me as much as I love you."

Tears welled in my eyes again and I felt them just pouring down my face.

"Damn you. You know exactly what to say to make my heart thump for you. I can't lie and say that I didn't miss you or this because I did. But I will not just be your trophy. I will have my independence and I will have my freedom. There is nothing you can do or say that will make me change my mind."
