The month of Ramadaan in which the Qur'an was revealed, as a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So, whoever from amongst you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadaan), he must fast that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not fast, must be made up from other days.

(Al Baqarah, 2:183–185)

"MESSER"

I cut through the chest line, "Suction" Rosa assists in navigating the machine. It's an emergency case; the patient has heart failure he passed out a few hours ago, so it is more of a life-and-death surgery. We began with a septal rupture repair.

"Probe" I placed my hand in order.

Cardiothoracic surgeon, that's who I am, what gives me absolute pleasure. Being a doctor hasn't only been a childhood dream but a passion. Most kids have this urge to label MBBS as their ambition but as you grow and life begins to show you shege things take a turn.

Lol!

I'm good at what I do, I love it, and it gives me utmost joy to have those tensile held to my hands, running through the human system. Medical school was a phase I wish not to ever have to go through, coz there are times when things begin to get tough and unbearable but then holding onto what have you in it in the first place, keeps me sane.

"Get me a bigger forceps"

I arrived in Lagos two hours ago after a business deal I had to cover in Japan. Juggling between my dream and Dada's has never been a piece of cake yet I manage to put the two together.

My father or as I prefer to call him Dada is someone I could lay my life for, that man made me who I am today, and his support has kept me going to where currently am. There is absolutely nothing I won't do for him.

He stepped down from his CEO chair two years back. He owns an international trading company that has been running literally all my life, he loves that place with his life, and he has worked so hard to get it to where it stands now.

He's someone I'm proud of and look up to.

By now you can tell I'm a daddy's girl, well yes! You got that right.

"Cut" Huffing out an exhausting breath I moved back leaving the rest to cover the patient up, making my way to the washer.

I walked out of the theater room coming in view with who I presume is the patient's family all so tensed up and on the edge.

"How is he?"

"He suffered heart failure. The surgery was a success but we're keeping him under observation—"

The middle-aged woman cut through my explanations something I tag as very annoying and disrespectful yet I kept my lips sealed, home training coming in order or else I would have released the beast inside of me; after all I am Curella, a daughter do her daddy.
