She stifled a cry as she sang, rocking back in forth in the corner of her closet.

"Coming down the world turned over,
and angels fall without you there,
and I go on as you get colder,
or are you someone's prayer"

The memory replayed in her mind as she rubbed her swollen eyes; the snow on the crumbling pavement, bells jingling in the shop windows. The words that escaped from her dry, cracked lips rung in her ears.
