He doesn't use nicknames for affection most likely to tease you or when he's irritated by you.
Goes for platonic relationships too.
Platonic: dumbass on the regular if your stupid in ways or smartass if your smart or usually right.
And if your hair looks messy no matter how hard you try to fix it he will call you a birds nest.
Romantic: He will call you beautiful when you guys are alone or gorgeous.
In public calls you babe or y/n.
He gets really flustered when you use pet names/nicknames on him in public.
Secretly tryna stop you from calling him them.
Season 4:
Platonic: just y/n but very sternly and emotionless.
Romantic: doesn't use them often but he will still call you beautiful.
Some times he calls you my love "y/n my love, I will save you from this sit hole..."

It just happens naturally to him.

If your a really close friend then he will use a nickname for you based on your personality.
For example if your more on the quiet side he will maybe call you "wallflower" search it up in urban dictionary.
Or if your always messing around then he will call you a "goofball" but not always just sometimes.
