Chapter Thirty.

Charlie:
Did I hear Darcy right? There's no way Tara doesn't want to be with her anymore, they're Darcy and Tara! I wonder how this even happened because I've never even seen them fight or even really have a disagreement.

"Whatever happened, I'm almost positive that she still wants to be with you," Nick says.
"What even happened?" I ask.

She sighs.

"It was nothing really. Well, I guess lately I've been not focusing on school as much as I should, or as much as she wants me to anyway. I've been hanging out with her a lot and she ended up not handing in an assignment and got an F. I told her it wasn't a big deal, it was just one grade and she started getting angrier saying it was a big deal and that I should be focusing on school more and bringing my grades up instead of distracting her and bringing her grades down."

Nick and I look at each other.

"That doesn't really sound like she doesn't want to be with you. If anything, it seems like she wants you to succeed because she loves you," I say.
"I ended up storming out of her room and now here I am," she says as she kicks the trash can again. "Maybe we're too different.."
"Different isn't a bad thing," Nick says. "Look at Charlie and me. I'm a sports guy and he's a nerd and we work out just fine."
"And I'm nice and Nick is a jerk," I say as I playfully push him.

Darcy laughs and sighs.

"I'm overreacting, aren't I?" She asks.

Nick and I both nod our heads.

"I get why though. You guys never fight so even the smallest fight seems like the worst. That's what happened with us," Charlie says.
"And if we would have just talked about it sooner rather than later, everything would have been worked out much more quickly.
"Can you drive me over there?" She asks.
"Go," I say. "I'll go to your room and hang with Adam until you get back."

Nick kisses me on the cheek and I head to his room.

Darcy:
Nick drives me over to Tara's dorm and looks at me.

"Do you want me to go with you? Ask Elle if she wants to go for a walk or something so you can talk to Tara alone?"

I shake my head.

"No, she's visiting Tao this weekend, so nobody is there anyway."
"Okay, keep me updated; and if you need a ride back, just give me a call."
"Thanks Nick," I say as I walk out of his car.

As I begin walking over to her dorm, I start to think to myself.  I really did overreact. This isn't like me at all. I think I'm just scared that Tara is going to move on to all of these great things and I'll just be left behind. When has Tara ever made you feel like you were going to be left behind? I reach her door and take a deep breath before I knock. Before I even get to the 2nd knock, the door opens and Tara throws herself into my arms as I hear her sniffling.

"Don't you ever leave like that again," she whispers.

I kiss her on the top of her head.

"Never again. I'm sorry," I say as we both walk into her room.

We both sit down on her bed and she sighs.

"Why did you react that way?"

I shrug. My reason wasn't good enough.

"It doesn't excuse how I reacted but I just, I don't take school as seriously as you do. And you are so beautiful, so brilliant and talented, that I was; I don't know, afraid that maybe I'll get left behind after we leave University."

She looks at me completely dumbfounded.

"What have I ever done to make you feel that way? I just want you to take school more seriously because you are also beautiful, brilliant and talented."

I roll my eyes but smile at her.

Nick:
I get back to the to my dorm and open the door to find Charlie and Adam playing video games.

"Well look, if it isn't Charlie #1 and Charlie #2," I joke.

They both look at me and laugh.

"Did you invite Jacob? Can he come tonight?" I ask.
"Come where?" Charlie asks.
"To dinner with us."
"Oh, I wasn't aware we were going to dinner. I actually have plans tonight," he teases.

I roll my eyes at him.

"Yes you came all this way just to have plans with someone else," I joke.
"YOU NEVER KNOW! Tara and Darcy aren't that far away," he says as he laughs.

I look back at Adam.

"Jacob?"

He nods his head.

"Yeah, he's coming."
"Don't be nervous!" I say because I can see that he is clearly panicking.
"It's going to be great!" Charlie chimes in.

Adam sighs.

"Fine. Ugh I can't tell if I hate you guys or love you guys."

Charlie and I look at each other and laugh.

"You definitely love us," we say in unison.

We all get ready for dinner as Adam lets us know that Jacob will be meeting us at the restaurant.

"Rob's coming too, Jacqueline couldn't make it though," Adam says as we get into my car.
"Oh cool," I say. "See, everything is going to be fine."
"Just a bunch of bros hanging out, no big deal," Charlie says nonchalantly.
"Bros? Really Charlie?" I say with a laugh.

We park and Adam sees Rob getting out of his car.

"I'll go grab Rob," Adam says as he jumps out of the car.

I look at Charlie and kiss him. He pulls away and smiles.

"What was that for?" He asks.
"Just because. I don't want Adam to feel weird if we're being all cute so wanted to get the cuteness out of the way until we're back at the dorm," I say with a smile.
"That's not going to stop me from grabbing your hand under the table," he says as he kisses me again.

He pulls away from the kiss, smiles at me and jumps out of the car, walking over to Rob and Adam. I shake my head and smile. God, I love him him so much.
