It took you awhile to get the hang of flyer derby, but you were actually pretty good. You had been ignoring Hunter while you practiced, but now it was time for the game. You were talking to Viney, but then you realized Hunter was on the phone with someone and you weren't keeping an eye on him like you were supposed to. You had also found out that he had a palisman now. After he called yours dangerous. You were 90% sure those weren't allowed in the Emperor's Coven.
"What was that?" You hear him say before Willow calls out for 'Caleb'.
"Gotta go, you'll meet them soon!" He exclaims and then the crow phone flies off.
Who's meeting who?
The game starts, but it's hard to focus while you're trying to make sure Hunter isn't up to anything.
"Gus, that was amazing!" He exclaims at one point. You can't believe he's actually being nice. He was probably just putting up an act, like he did to you.
At some point while you're distracted thinking about Hunter, your flag is taken and you have to go back to the ground. You watch the rest of the game. and damn Willow is good.
When you win, everybody rushes up to Hunter, you're a bit hesitant to join, but honestly- the game was so fun you don't really care.
"May I have your team name?" The abominations professor asks.
"Shoot, we never thought of a name." Willow says, lost in thought.
"The Emerald Entrails!" Hunter interrupts.
Huh?
"Y'know.. because.. we're green, and there's more to us than you think?" He mutters the last part. He looks so kind and vulnerable, not at all like a backstabbing piece of shit.
"Entrails, entrails!" Everybody chants, and you join in excitedly.
"Entrails team photo!" Willow exclaims, pulling out her scroll.
"Yeah!" You agree, putting your arm around Hunter's shoulders and smiling without another thought.
"We're number one!" Willow shouts as she takes the picture, everybody laughing and cheering excitedly.
"I can't believe I almost bailed on you guys." Hunter smiles, looking down at the team photo. "Today was amazing, thanks for giving me another shot."
"No problemo, dude!" You punch his shoulder playfully, a glimmer of understanding between only the two of you as you glance at him.
"Always nice making a new friend." Viney chimes in. "I had an opening for one." She glares at her friend Jerbo, who had been playing for the other team. He gasps dramatically, and you can't help but laugh.
"We wouldn't have gotten here without you." Willow says softly.
"Yeah, I shouldn't have been so suspicious." Gus shakes his head. You probably thought something like that to yourself, once.
"Pssh, we'll forget all about that when we play next time!" Hunter says excitedly, and you're happy to see that he's doing well away from the coven, now. "as apart of the Emperor's Coven!" He finishes.
Never mind.
"The WHAT?" Gus shouts.
"My name isn't Caleb, it's Hunter." He says like it's obvious. You're just standing there, frozen. "And I'm the emperor's right hand man, the Golden Guard!"
You knew this would happen, and you didn't do anything to stop it.
Holy shit.
"Y/N, you knew that." He smiles at you, but you have a horrified expression on your face, guilty. It's your fault.
