2007. AUDITORIUM.

"AND SHE SAID WHAT?"

Emelia asked as she stared at her best friend Quinn through the screen of her laptop. Quinn was sat on her bed holding a script book she was constantly revising or looking over.

"Well, she tried to contact her but, it didn't work." Quinn spoke, closing her script book to look at Emelia through the screen. "She just started repeating the same sinister words before telling me she couldn't do it."

Quinn was explaining to Emelia her encounter with a psychic she had gone to see, Elise. Quinn had gone to see the woman to try and contact her mother who had passed away. Even though Emelia didn't support the idea, she knew Quinn was still grieving and needed closure, anything to soothe her from the thought of her mother and death.

"Sounds creepy." Emelia spoke before looking to her door. Dalton had knocked at the door; she knew this as he had always knocked three times specifically.

"Everything okay?" Quinn asked, noticing her attention switch.

"Hey, I gotta go." Emelia replied, turning back to look at Quinn. Her face was completely distorted on her laptop screen.

"Okay. You'll be at my audition tomorrow, yeah?" Quinn spoke, though her mouth didn't move on the screen. She was frozen.

"Yeah..." Emelia trailed off. "You should check your connection; you're completely distorted on my side."

"Oh." Quinn's response was simple.

"Anyway, see you tomorrow." And with that Emelia ended the skype call closing her laptop. She stood up from her bed, walking towards her door that was filled with posters of numerous bands.

She opened the door to reveal her younger brother, Dalton.

"Emelia, mom needs your help with something." The boy muttered before running off to his room. She raised her eyebrows in confusion due to his quick departure down the small apartment hall.

She walked towards the kitchen where her mother resided. Renai, her mother, was sat down at the kitchen table scanning through a magazine article.

"Hey, Dalton said you needed me?" Emelia asked, pulling out one of the table chairs to sit across from her.

"Yeah. I need to ask you something." Her mother spoke, setting down the magazine she had originally been reading.

"I'm all ears." Emelia assured, placing her hands on the table.

"How would you feel about moving?" Renai asked her, biting her lip in anticipation for the girl's reaction. Emelia wasn't expecting it. Their small apartment complex wasn't the best of living places, but it was home.
