She lay there huddled, listening as the footsteps passed over her, on top of the trapdoor. She held her breath as they passed, the yelling and voices of men disappearing into the distance. She slowly opened the trapdoor, poking her head up and checking the area before standing up, hauling herself up.
She brushes of her skirt and closes the trapdoor, someone coming back. She runs to a cupboard and holds her breath as a man runs past, muttering something under his breath. He stops and stares right at her, through the cupboard doors.
"May God have mercy on you child, you will need all the luck you can get."
The man runs off and drops something, the girl stepping out. She walks over it to it and stoops down, sweeping down and picking it up. She stares at the ring before slipping it onto her left middle finger, a calming sensation running down her back.
She looks around at her ruined house and sighs, walking outside. She stares at the sunset as she walks out of the small cottage, the hues of pink and purple swirling around. Hearing the groan of zombies she takes one last look at the sky before heading back inside, cleaning up what she could, not noticing the note on the door.
'Go to Guude my child, he knows what to do. There was someone else like you, one that survived, You will need his help, and his knowledge. Get to him as quick as you can, daughter.
Your Father, Adlington.'

Hi! So Annie here, just wanted to tell you that there will be slow updates, I still have school and unlike the Northern Hemisphere, it's winter and I'm freezing my bosom off half the time.
But I hope you enjoy, I feel like I'll love writing this book!
