Lana slept soundly after her meeting with Carl the previous night, a sense of understanding brewing between them. The next day unfolded before Lana like a tapestry of new experiences, starting with the luxury of sleeping in, a brief respite from the tumult of her recent travels. However, the tranquility was abruptly shattered by the gentle prodding on her shoulder, pulling her from the depths of slumber. Dismissing it at first, she attempted to return to the cocoon of her dream, but a persistent pressure on her shoulder prompted a groan, and her arm lazily swatted away the intrusive hand before seeking refuge under the warm blanket to escape the biting cold. The remnants of sleep dissipated, and with each passing second, Lana found herself more awake.

Her eyes reluctantly parted, revealing a figure looming over her, compelling her to sit up abruptly. Instinctively, her hand reached for her belt, where her knife usually rested, only to relax when she realized it was someone her age.

The boy, clad in a black button-up shirt, jeans, dark brown hair and black glasses, seemed ill at ease. Lana reciprocated his tentative wave, waiting for an explanation for the untimely wake-up call, silently lamenting the pleasant dream that had been abruptly interrupted.
