Chuuya had lost track of time. Almost an hour had gone by but he was stuck in some sort of trance. He watched the cars leave the Port Mafia parking lot, people with their families walk by and the clouds slowly start to darken.
Chuuya was cold. Deathly cold. His hands were turning numb and his eyes were red. Chuuya didn't like the feeling, but he was glued to the same spot. Was this an unconscious way of hurting himself? His mind had started to blank a while ago, he felt almost empty. At first he just assumed this empty feeling was caused by Dazais sudden return and the amount of pressure from work, but it was much more. Everything he had worked so hard to keep inside him was slowly starting to seep out, everything he had worked so hard to hide from the outside world.
Suddenly the metal door carefully opened. Chuuyas ears picked up on the sound of footsteps but his mind remained unconscious of the world around him. A man in a black trench coat was now standing by his side, his bandaged wrapped arms dangling over the railing.
"I had a hunch I would find you here." Dazai said, his voice echoing in the wind. Chuuya's expression stayed the same. Dazai was looking at Chuuyas blank eyes, there wasn't a hint of any visible emotion. Dazai glanced at Chuuyas hands, they were almost pure white due to the cold. Without saying a word dazai removed them from the railing, placing one in his own hand.
Chuuyas hands were quite small compared to Dazais. Dazai could feel the cold throughout Chuuya's fingers, his once soft hands had become dry. Dazai wanted to say some whitey insult like bashing Chuuya for acting so depressing but this whole scenario hit to close to home. He knew what it felt like to have given up hope and as much as he might've disliked Chuuya, Dazai had always had a soft spot in his heart for him.
Chuuyas center of gravity started to shift, Dazai could feel the slowing pulse through Chuuyas hand. Dazai swiftly wrapped his coat around him and scooped him up in his arms.
Dazai didn't expect for the day to turn out like this. He expected the normal insults and teasing like how it used to be. Dazai didn't pity Chuuya in the slightest but something prevented him from just leaving him on the rooftop to freeze to death. He didn't even have to conversate with Chuuya to know what he was thinking, Dazai knew that look way too well. It was the very look that rested on his face daily and despite his hatred for Chuuya he couldn't handle seeing that expression on his face.
