When Max and Chloe were seventeen years old, they went to Arcadia Bay High, since Blackwell was reserved for high school seniors, not juniors. It was the last semester, and Max and Chloe were at home, studying. "Ugh, I don't get biology. What are genes? Max? Do you know what genes are?" Asked Chloe, exasperated from her "hardcore studying". Max looked over at her study guide, then Chloe's, and said, "Genes are the coding in your DNA, which makes up your looks. There are active genes and recessive genes. Recessive are the ones that you share with Joyce and...... and....." Chloe put a hand on Max. "Max, it's okay to talk about my dad. I'm still hurting, and I will, for a very long time, but it's okay. It doesn't hurt to think or talk about him anymore." Said Chloe reassuringly. Max nodded, and went back to studying, her nose practically to the paper. Chloe turned on the HiFi, her stereo, and Crosses began to play. Max started moving her head to the music, but subtly. Chloe looked at her book, and closed it, using Max's book instead, because a lot of the pages were filled with notes on the margins, as well as the bottom and the top of pages. Not only that, but her notes were filled with notes, her notebook paper that had her lecture notes had notes on the margins. "Dear god, girl, how many notes do you have to have?' Asked Chloe. Max smiled, saying, "As many as it takes, my blue haired girlfriend." Chloe pulled Max's hand into her own, and Max smiled at the attempted subtlety and discreetness of Chloe. She closed her book and took out her camera. She snapped a picture of Chloe and her, sitting side by side. "Photobomb!" Yelled Chloe. Max laughed and replied, "Photo-hog." The camera flashed, and Max collected the image. "Max.... I'm tired of Arcadia Bay. I wanna go somewhere..... somewhere with you. Anywhere but this town. How bout Los Angeles? Seems like a good place." Max nodded. "Parents are in Seattle, and we could go anywhere. Yeah, let's go to L.A. I mean, there are parts of this town that I'd miss, but I wanna travel."
