It is 1985, at the high school that both Coop and Remer went to. It was almost lunch time, and Coop wasn't having a great day. Remer had recently got a new girlfriend, Tiffany. Coop didn't really care about her, because he barely knew her. But, Remer was trying to rub it in Coop's face, and Coop didn't like that.
He decided to focus on his work until the end of class, which was not long. He smiled at a doodle on his paper, which resembled Remer. The bell rang, that scared Coop. Everyone got up from their desks, grabbed their stuff, and left the classroom. Coop followed the group that left, and walked to the lunch area.
When Coop got there, he looked around for Remer. He couldn't find him, so he sat down on the grass, grabbing out his notebook and the snack he brought, a candy bar. Coop unwrapped his candy bar, and started to break off pieces eating it. Remer had walked up behind Coop, and kicked his back. Coop jumped, and looked back to see Remer and Tiffany. " Hey, dude." Remer smiled at him, walking around Coop, sitting down across from him. " Don't do that, you scared me." Coop said, annoyed. Tiffany sat down next to you Remer, laying on his shoulder. " Sorry." Remer said, looking at Coop.
Coop looked at the both of them, and looked back down at his notebook. " How was your classes?" Remer asked Coop, looking at Tiffany, who was smiling at him. " Fine." Coop said. Remer didn't even say anything back, him and Tiffany were locking eyes. Coop looked back up at them, not giving them any emotion. Remer looked at Coop, " What?"
Coop sighed, " Nothing." Remer looked at Tiffany, and back at Coop. " Don't worry, I know you're jealous that I have a girlfriend, someone will come for you soon." Remer smiled, trying to be nice. " Yeah, I have a few single friends who might be interested in you." Tiffany said, lying, but trying to make Coop feel better. " Mhm. Sure." Coop said.
" I can go find them for you." Tiffany offered. " That's fine. I don't need a girlfriend." Coop said. Remer and Tiffany looked at eachother, and back at Coop. " Are you gay?" They asked. " What? I'm not gay. When did I say I was gay?" Coop said, acting confused. " Well if you're nothing gay, you shouldn't be jealous of me dating Tiffany. We're trying to be nice. Aren't we?" Remer snapped back." Yeah. What's your problem, Coop? " Tiffany asked," If you're jealous of Remer, get over it, we're a couple now. "
This just made Coop upset, so he closed his notebook, and left. " Did I say something wrong?" Remer asked Tiffany. " Of course not, he's just jealous that I'm dating you." Tiffany smiled." I'm just gonna let him be, he'll get over it. " Remer smiled back," Like you said, we're a couple now. They immediately forgot about Coop after locking eyes with eachother and started kissing eachother.
Coop sat down at another table, away from the couple. He tried to forget about what they said to him, but couldn't. " Why would they say that to me? I'm not jealous of them. Why would they think that?" Coop thought to himself, " And why would they ask if I was gay? Remer knows I am. So why did he ask? Did he forget? " He kept looking up at the couple, who were still making out. " Am I jealous? " Coop asked himself.
He opened his notebook to page of doodles, which was full of Remer. He flipped to another page, which had more drawings of him. Coop gulped, and kept flipping pages, seeing more and more drawings of Remer on the pages. Coop closed his notebook, and put it back into his backpack. He zipped up his backpack, and ran to the bathroom.
He ran in, and looked at himself in the mirror. " Am I jealous of Tiffany?" He asked himself, " Do I love Remer?" He looked at his reflection in the mirror, and then got into a stall. He locked the door, and just stood in there." This is crazy. I would've never thought the person I'd fall for would be my best friend. " Coop thought to himself. But then he smiled," I..like Remer. "
Someone came into the bathroom, so Coop hid in the stall he was in, crouching on the seat." Coop, are you in here? " A familiar voice asked out," It's Remer. " Part of Coop wanted to stay hidden, but the other half wanted to go out and kiss him right there." Coop, I saw you come in here, so I know you're hiding. I'm...sorry for how I acted out there with Tiffany. " Remer sighed," It was wrong of me. " Coop's eyebrows raised as Remer apologized." I am so sorry for making you feel that way, I saw it when you were sitting there. " Remer continued on.
Coop stayed silent, listening to what he said." Coop, I know you're gay, I didn't forget. I told you I'd love you as a friend no matter what." He paused," I've been thinking about my sexuality too, and I finally realize that...I like you. A lot. " Coop got up from crouching, and open the stall door." I like you too, I didn't realize it until... " He paused." Right now, I know. " Remer smiled.
" Does Tiffany know about this? " Coop asked." She was my cover up, but now I realize I don't need her anymore. I need you. " Remer smiled." Are you and her over? Or are you guys still together? " Coop asked, again." We're over, we've been over, it was just a cover up until I could tell you. " Remer smiled. Coop nodded at Remer's response," So...Are we dating now? "
" Only if you'd like. " Remer said, holding Coop's hands.
" I'd love to be your boyfriend. " Coop smiled, kissing Remer's face. They both smiled at eachother, and hugged. Coop's jealousy had seemed to disappear as they hugged." I'm sorry for being rude. " Coop said." Don't worry about it, I'm not mad at you, actually, I'm the exact opposite. " Remer chuckled," I love you, Coop. " Coop smiled at what Remer said." I love you too, dude. "
