Carina's POV
To say that I was nervous would be an understatement. I had been preparing for this moment my entire life, and I couldn't be happier to be with someone I was madly in love with. But that didn't stop the negative thoughts from seeping in. What if I didn't make him happy? What if he didn't love me the way I loved him?
I pushed the thoughts away and began to get dressed. After putting on my undergarments, Belle tightened the strings to my stay before helping me put my white heels on. I looked towards the dress on the mannequin and was in awe with the finished dress. Madame Delecroix had really out done herself.
It was a beautiful white dress, made of a beautiful silk. Over the top of the skirt lay a layer of tulle with a floral lace trim with swans on it, the family crest. At the waist was a white ribbon, which had a diamonds on it arranged in a flower. The neck had a lace trim which was repeated at the bottom of the sleeves. In the centre of the bodice sat an applique of a white carnation, made out of silk, with a sapphire in the middle of it.
After putting on the dress, I did my hair. I left it down for the most part, putting half of it up and tying it into a bun. Mama entered the room after knocking the door and sat down on the door with a box in hand. Moving swiftly from the vanity, I sat down beside her.
"I have a present for you." She said passing me the box.
I opened it up and revealed a silver tiara with diamonds and sapphires embedded into it and the wings of a swan made in silver. It was beautiful.
"Mama." I let out as a tear rolled down my eye.
"It was your mother's. Last year, your father told me that he was going to give it to you on your wedding and I guess I am just honouring his wishes." She said with a sad smile. "I'll let you finish getting ready and I will meet you at the church." She got up and gave me a kiss on the cheek before wiping away my tear.
I made my way over to the vanity again and applied rouge to my cheek and lips before dabbing the scent of jasmine on my jaw and along my collar bone. I grabbed the floor length veil and put it on before placing the family tiara on my head.
I put on a pair of sapphire earrings as well as a sapphire necklace before slipping the white silk gloves on my hand. Looking at myself one more time in the full length mirror, I smiled.
I left the room and made my way to the carriage where I met with my brother. He handed me my bouquet of lilacs, white roses and lavender and I could swear I could see a tear in his eyes.
"You are going to make a fine Viscountess." Charles told me.
"Thank you Charlie." I replied as we began to move.
