Chapter 23 – Hell Bent.
Tori's POV
I thought that was the end of it, that day at the beach but over the next two weeks Jade kept bringing it up. I was just uncomfortable with it. Too much chance for disaster I concluded. Jade and I had been through a lot. I was still feeling somewhat bad for my little freak out a few weeks previous. We didn't need this extra garbage.
In regards to my freakout, my counselor told me that on average it takes 2 months to climb mount Everest. There's base camp, where you get acclimated to the climate, then there are 3 different camps at 3 different altitudes. Climbers will spend time at each camp, getting used to the altitude, before proceeding to the next camp and eventually to the summit. She said that I may want to look at intimacy in that regard. A series of steps, each one going just a bit higher up the mountain. Then Jade and I can proceed to the next step, when we are ready.
It was a rather simple and logical approach and I feel silly that I didn't think of it. My counselor told mem that when one's mind is occupied, it's easy to miss the most obvious things.
We had kissed and slept together by this point. So, we gradually added touching of breasts. It was a step that I felt I was ready for and rather enjoyed. Jade, despite being the self-described, Goth bitch, she's been extremely patient. Jade has also enjoyed our next step.
While that was going well, Jade's mind was still on her mother. The topic of her mother and Lisa, kept coming up.
Jade said one day, "Now days, I see her looking out the window a lot. Just staring off into space. There's this look on her face during those times. She tries to hide it, but I see it. I know I've let loose something within her. And I keep thinking getting Lisa back in her life, is the only answer."
Each time I would caution Jade that it wasn't a good idea and not our business. Each time she seemed to argue about it longer with me. It was slowly getting a very sore spot for both of us. It's funny, how we were progressing on one front, intimacy, but this thing with her mom was coming more and more between us. But she kept bringing it up.
Each time it was brought up, I was more opposed to the idea. It became a growing point of contention. She felt that it would finally heal her mother's heart. I told her, it could shatter it forever. She meant well, but sometimes the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I just wanted to spare Jade and her mother more heartache.
"She has a memory of the woman she loves when their relationship is strong. Let's don't do anything to spoil that memory of Lisa or their time together." I would tell her.
Jade just seemed determined. One day 3 weeks after we told each other we loved each other she came over. We were just going to go to the movies.
"I found out her last name." Jade said confident as she walked in the door.
"Who's?" I asked, as I shut the door behind her.
"Lisa" she said proudly.
I rolled my eyes. "Not this again, Jade. Too much of a risk. How did you find out that information anyway?"
Jade frowned. "I found the metal box, she had her mementoes in. I just had to. I wanted to find out some info so I could find Lisa."
My jaw dropped. "You went through your mothers' personal, private things?"
