The child slept peacefully in her bed. Her head rested upon a plump feather pillow, her small, chubby arm wrapped around an old teddy bear that she clutched to her chest.

Her mother walked in and knelt by the bed. Tear tracks glistened on her face and smudged her makeup into dark circles under her eyes. She gazed lovingly at her child, her heart breaking at the thought of what she had lost. "Amelie" she whispered, trailing off when a creak sounded from the door. Amelie's mother turned to see her parents standing at the door, their wrinkled faces twisted into miserable expressions.

"Do it" Amelie's mother whispered. A single tear brimmed in her woeful silver eyes and escaped, trickling down her already tear stained face. Her father gave a small, sympathetic smile. Amelie's mother stood and walked out of the room.
