Dylan
Ok so fast forward 2 weeks and I'm finally being discharged from the hospital. Ryder has been with me constantly, and shockingly I'm not sick of him. I did force him to go home and sleep the last two weeks though. His mom and sisters need him and I have my gang and family.
Dad says I have to return to school tomorrow. I argued him on it because I'm in a wheelchair. I broke my leg and my wrist. Moving around is gonna be hard either way. But he insists on a wheelchair because then my friends can push me. Lovely I know.
"DYLAN IT'S YOUR OWN 4th OF JULY!" Reggie squeals as he busts into the room. Luke, Ryder, Charlie, Axel, Shawn, Dante, Danny, Leila, Jake, Bri, TJ, Jason, my parents, a doctor and a nurse are all trailing behind him. To say my room is packed is an understatement.
"How d'you mean Reggie?" I ask.
"Well, 4th of July was the day that we as a country officially gained independence from Britain. Today is the day you off get independence from the hospital! BOOM LOGIC!!"
I can't believe Axel explained that with a straight face. I'm laughing and crying. Ryder is holding me upright so I don't hurt my side.
Did I mention I also popped a rib out of place? It's in place now but somehow I had.
"How did you say that with a straight face?" Bri chuckles and I go into a whole new round of laughter while pointing and nodding at Bri wordlessly. I'm trying to breathe but I can't.
"Ok so here's the rules: you must use the wheelchair, keep your casts on at all times. You must have a friend or your mother help you shower so you don't get the stitches wet. No pressure, and no physical activity clearly. Also, no more fighting," the doctor looks sternly at me and I immediately look away so I don't laugh again.
he looks like a toad
Ryder rolls off the bed and curls into a ball, laughing and yelping in pain. He landed on his injured shoulder. He quickly gets back up and settles back down with me.
I look at him and he glances at me. And starts laughing again.
"What is so funny dude?!" I whine.
"You said the doc looked like a toad out loud princess. You whispered it and clearly only I heard it," he laughs again and finally the doctor looks at us.
"Is something funny?" He croaks.
"Ribbit...ribbit," Ryder whispers and I'm pretty sure we busted a gut laughing.
"Okay, clearly they heard nothing. I'll make sure they follow the rules," my mom says and I nod while wheezing.
"Very well. Good day to you all," he bows his head and turns to leave, hopping over a cord in the process.
"Ryder," I smack his arm and he looks at me. I bite my lip to not ruin the joke. "Boing boing."
"That-was-genius," he says in between laughs. God we are acting like we're high of some shit. Wait.
"Momma, do you know what pain meds they gave us today?" I ask and she nods.
"Morphine I believe," she replies and my eyes go wide as I look at Danny.
"DANNY WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL THEM TO USE CODEINE?" I screech. He's trying to suppress laughter by hiding his face in Leila's hair.
"I wanted to see you act like this!" He says happily. "I don't know why Ryder's acting like that though."
"He has the same reaction to morphine," Axel groans. "Ugh we're stuck with two teenagers who are basically unintentionally high on painkillers."
"Hey! You ain't stuck with me! You're choosing to be stuck with me," I say defensively and Ryder agrees.
