—Madison "So, Mom, there's a party tonight at Andrew Adler's and everyone's is gonna be there." Haley says, hoping to convince mom. "That sounds like so much fun, but I have other plans." Mom responds jokingly.
"Wow mom, your really learning." I cut in. Sipping happily on my strawberry lemonade. "Oh, that's hilarious, but I'm talking about me." Haley says, pointing to herself. "that's unusual." Alex mumbles.
"Honey, you said you'd go to your grandfather's tonight." Mom points out, pouring Alex more water. "See that's what so perfect about this. Andrew only lives like, a couple blocks away from grandpa's."
"So I figured that I could go..." Haley explains her idea. "Sweetie, you made a commitment." Mom recounted, walking into the kitchen. "But I really want to go and plus, every time I go over to grandpa's Manny stares at me the whole time." Haley says.
"Maybe if you wore a bra." Alex suggest. My jaw falls down. "Alex!" Mom warns. Glaring at Alex. "What? I can't wait to go to grandpa's. Family means everything to me." Alex says, turning her head to Haley. "Because you have no friends." Haley retorted.
"No, because I love grandpa, and he's getting older. Who knows how many years he has left?" Alex says sheepishly. "Is grandpa dying?" Luke questions. "Didn't they tell you?" Alex jokes. Feigning sadness.
"Alex, stop torturing your brother. No your grandpa is fine." Mom reassures Luke.
"For now." Alex whispers.
(Doorbell rings) "Who could that be? You expecting someone special?" Dad teased, trying to hint something. Mom raises her eyebrows at dad.
"What did you do?" I ask dad. "Just ordered something special." Dad says confidently. "Please don't tell me you bought that inflatable drogon from game of thrones."
"One day I will. One day I will."
Later that evening
"There are my little stinkers!" I hear grandpa yell, while I unload the car, meanwhile my lovely siblings walk away without helpen those little stinkers.
I grab all the bags and walk to grandpa who stands at the door with his arm extended. I nod a thanks at him. Handing him some of the bags.
"Hola Maddy!" Gloria greeted, holding Lily in her arms. "Hey Gloria." I smile at her, putting the bags down.
"Well, Hello there, Madison and Haley." Manny says in a weirdly seductive tone, holding a glass of Cola. I raise my eyebrows at him while Haley nudges me. "This is what I meant this morning." Haley whispers. Her face frozen in slight fear.
