It's the last day of school. The class was given a free period. My friends were off. I was all alone. That was until a girl pulled out the chair next to me. "Do you mind if I sit here?" She asks. I nod and fix my hair. We've spoken a few times before. I always thought she was attractive, but up close she's even more gorgeous. A sweet smell hits my nose as she sits down. "Wow, do you smell that?" I ask. "I'm not sure haha". She pulls out a notebook and starts writing something down. I look over her shoulder, curious as to what she's doing. She grabs it and pulls it to her chest quickly. "What're you doing?!" Her cheeks go rosy. It's cute. "I was curious, what're you writing?". She looks embarrassed. "Uhm.. nothing!" She smiles. I grab the notebook from her and read. Wow. I can hear myself gasp. It's a short story. And it's amazing. A romance, so intense and sweet I feel butterflies as if I were one of the characters. She snatches it back too late. "Holy shit" I stare at her, open mouthed. "You saw it didn't you? Ughhh" She groans and rests her head on the desk. "Please don't tell anyone". I realise my mouth is still open and close it. "Do you like to write?". She nods. "I've loved to write since I was really young. And romance just happens to be my favourite genre". She closes her eyes and breathes so softly that I thought she'd fallen asleep. "Wow, am I really so boring that you're nodding off?" I chuckle. She does too and sits up. I smell that sweet scent again. "Now that I've embarrassed myself, I think you owe me. Tell me somethings about yourself". I think for a moment. "I watch TV. I have a dog and my favourite song is 'Can't take my eyes off of you' by Frankie Valli". She smiles so big her eyes almost disappear. "THERE'S NO WAY!". I now feel bad to burst her bubble. I thought it'd be funny. "No, I actually saw you listening to it earlier. Do you think we could listen to it together? Who knows, maybe it will be my favourite song after all". She passes me an earbud and plays the song. I smile as she looks up, hoping I like it She then shows me a clip from one of her favourite movies where they sing the song. She sits and talks to me about all of her favourite songs and movies and I listen. I could listen to her voice forever. I pull out my phone when she finishes and respond to some texts. When I look back she's resting on the table again. This time I think she's actually asleep. I look at her for a bit. Wow, she's prettier than I remember. I notice a strand of hair and tuck it behind her ear. She opens her eyes. They're a gorgeous blue I could get lost in. My hand is still near. She grabs hold of it and traces the lines on my palm. I feel heat rush to my face and mypalms begin to sweat. I pull away and she looks up at me. She gazes into my eyes. "You're eyes" she says and pauses. "Are really pretty". I smile. "Yours too". She blushes but smiles too. The more time I spend with her, the more I begin to relate to that song she showed me. I really can't take my eyes off of her. The bell rings and as we leave she pulls me to the side of the hall. "Can I have your number?" She asks and I laugh. "I'm not joking" She says and I see her jaw clench. "I like you". I feel myself blink, totally confused. She. Likes. Me. I look at her and play her words over, and over. My heart beats faster than I feel is healthy. I definitely like her too. "I like you too" I practically whisper. More and more people come pouring out of their classes, thrilled to start summer. We wonder outside, hoping it'll be quieter. But then, I'm pushed against her. She stares at my lips, then gazes into my eyes. I lean in closer and smell the sweetness again. "I like you too" I say, leaning even closer. But I'm a coward, I don't do anything. I'm scared. But she puts her hand on my face and brings me in closer. Our lips touch and she's kissing me. She tastes so good it makes me dizzy. She pulls away, breathless. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have..". I stop her and tuck her hair behind her ear. I've never kissed a girl before, but this feels so natural. She stares up at me, dazed. And I kiss her this time.
