Kie's POV:

I got home that night and my dad said, "You know JJ is bad news"

"Dad, we broke up. I don't want to talk about JJ anymore. You liked him when you hired him. You trusted him and now you treat him like shit. It's not fair"

"Why are you defending him?"

"Because he's still a human being who deserves respect and kindness. You of all people should know that" I said storming upstairs to my bedroom

I took a shower and I was annoyed with my dad. I just don't understand why he hates JJ so much. I couldn't believe he'd accuse JJ of stealing his watch and then dig through his backpack. I still can't believe my dad saw the weed and condoms in his bag, honestly that's embarrassing.

It's funny, I knew people were going to have opinions about me and JJ. I expected the hate, the nasty looks, and all that. It's not just because he's a pogue that people hate him, it's because he's Luke's son. He's a Maybank and they're known to be trouble.

I just hate that my dad is the one hating on us the most. JJ is nothing like his father and I wish more people could see that. I wish they could know him the way I do.

JJ's POV:

I woke up the next morning and I got a text from Anna Carrera. That's odd that she's texting me as it was a personal text and not a work text.

Anna: Hi JJ, would you have any free time this week? I'd love to take you out to dinner on the mainland and talk. You're not in trouble and I know this is probably weird and if you don't want to come you don't have to. I just ask that Mike and Kiara don't know about this.

JJ: Yeah, that's cool. I'm free Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday night

Anna: I'll pick you up Thursday night at 5pm

Thursday night rolled around and I was a little dressed up, nothing crazy. Kie had wanted to hang out tonight and I felt bad lying to her but I was also curious to know what Anna wanted to talk about. Maybe this was all some sneaky plan to murder me and it was really Mike.

Anna pulled up in her Porsche SUV and I got in the passenger seat. I expected the car ride to be awkward but it wasn't at all. We made casual conversation and we got to the restaurant. Everything was insanely expensive. I was going to order the cheapest thing on the menu when Anna said, "JJ, please order what you want. Don't look at the prices, I invited you"

I ended up ordering salmon and Anna got some seafood pasta thing. We were just casually talking and she said, "I know you're wondering why I brought you here"

"Yeah, considering I'm not longer dating Kie" I said and she just gave me a look as she cleverly said, "We wouldn't be here if you weren't dating Kie"

I looked at her wondering if Kie told her this was a fake break up. Luckily, Anna said, "Kie hasn't said anything but her eyes light up and she smiled every time some guy named Rudy texts her. She was barely sad over the break up. It wasn't hard for me to piece together that you're the Rudy she's sneaking out to see"

"Damn, we're that obvious? Our friends haven't figured it out"

"I'm her mom, I know my little girl... I know Mike has been awful and I'm so sorry. I just want you know that I'm here for you and Kiara. No matter what, you guys can always come to me. Your relationship is none of my business, I'm just glad you guys are still together"

"So am I... I love her, I've never loved anyone before and I can't imagine my life without her. I gave her a promise ring. I mean it's one of my rings but I told her I promised to marry her. I hope that's okay with you"

Anna smiled and said, "I saw the ring on her finger. I can't wait until you're officially my son"

We talked and our food came and I told her everything about Danny and William and the money. She was super easy to talk to.

"JJ, thank you for saving Kiara that night with Danny. He's crazy and I don't even want to think what he could have done to her"

"I'll always protect her"

We finished eating and then we left. She dropped me off and said, "JJ, I'll tell Kie about this when I get home. I don't want to cause any issues. Thank you for coming with me"

"Thanks for taking me. I had a great time" I said politely getting out of the car and heading inside

My dad was there and he asked, "You know I used date Anna... If Kiara is anything like her mom, I know you're getting good pussy"

I didn't want to have this conversation with my dad. I didn't want to hear him talk about his relationship
with my girlfriends mom, gross. I went to my room
tried not to think about what my dad just said. I was happy that Anna was telling Kie and sure enough, Kie or I could it says Madison was calling me.

"So I guess you and my mom had a little talk"

"Yeah, I hope that's okay"

"Of course, I'm glad you guys get along. It wasn't awkward or weird being alone with her, was it?"

"No, not at all. She's cool and she's super supportive of us being together"

"Who would've thought"

"Honestly, not me... I've been thinking and I talked to your mom about this but do you think William has your dads watch?"

"Wouldn't shock me"

Kie and I came up with a plan to try and see if it's him who was stealing. We also talked for like an hour about Mike. We both can't wait to tell him we never broke up. Thanksgiving was coming up this Thursday. I obviously had no plans. Kie had all her extended family coming over. I was stuck here with my dad who didn't give a shit about holidays. We'd probably have a beer and expired food.

Sure enough, Thanksgiving rolled around and I was chilling at home. There was a knock on the door and I opened it and Kie was there. She was in a leather skirt with a sweater. She looked beautiful. She was carrying a large bag and I asked, "What are you doing here?"

"I didn't want you to be alone on Thanksgiving" She said giving me a small smile
