In the depths of night, a smile appears, A mask of joy, hiding twofold tears. For happiness is a fickle friend, Bringing bliss, but with an uncertain end.
The heart yearns for contentment true, But twofold natures make it hard to pursue. One face shows delight, the other pain, A never-ending struggle, a constant refrain.
In search of peace, the mind does roam, But the answer remains unknown. For what is happiness but a fleeting state, An enigma to ponder, a puzzle to contemplate.
So the smile remains, a facade so bright, A twofold happiness, a twofold plight. But perhaps in the end, the mask will fade, And true happiness will come, unafraid.
