I want to leave this condo and experience the city, not stay inside all day. I'm not considering going back to my previous existence. It's amazing that there are fantastic stores nearby, as I've heard. Kalani may take care of Achilles today while I go grocery shopping alone. For the stuff I'll buy, I may require more than thirty dollars. I went back into the kitchen and requested permission to go to the store to get some groceries for the condo. Kalani was preparing sandwiches with basil chicken. She raises her head to face me.

"Want to wander off on your own in the city?"

"I've done it before, so I'll be fine. I fold my hands, wishing to go."

Kalani refuses, shaking her head. "Maybe in Michigan, but not in Minnesota."

Being rejected irritated me, so I came up with an alternative approach. I moved over to sit next to Achilles, where the radio was. "Can you take me to the supermarket, Achilles?"

"Now, Elora---"

Kalani was about to start talking when Achilles interrupted her.

"I'll join you because I might need some air anyway." Achilles laughs sincerely.

"Granddad, she shouldn't be out in public while the investigation is still going on."

I frowned in annoyance. One thing I needed was protection, but living inside a house constantly was too much for me. I like being outside more than staying indoors all the time.

"Please, we need more food anyways."

Kalani changes her mind in about a minute, even though this isn't what she agreed to. "Okay, but only once, and I'll consider letting you go anywhere you want to."

The grocery shop was four blocks distant, on the opposite side of the street from us. Once we were outside, I helped Achilles with his cane. This was strange; he was moving swiftly without requiring much support from me. I even asked him if he needed help, and he said he could do it himself. Of course, the cane will work on his balance every time he gets up, but he didn't stumble coming down the stairs. It must be a miracle; this is not something I would ordinarily anticipate.
