cecelia was not an early riser. truth be told, most days she had to get up to an alarm. but on days she didn't have work? she allowed herself to sleep in.

when the sun peeking through her curtains finally tore her from her peaceful, serene slumber, she lifted her phone from her nightstand. she ripped the charger out, and rolled over onto her opposite side, to face the wall.

to her surprise, she had two messages.

#: hi! this is josh :) it was great meeting you! hope we get to hang soon, drinks on me.

she clicked on it, and instantly typed a reply.

□: hey! i had a great time, and will definitely be taking you up on that offer!

she pressed send, then checked her notifications again. another unknown number.

##: this is jake, hope it's okay josh gave me your number. i thought you were pretty cool. text back?

she let out a quiet laugh to herself, pondering for just a moment on what to say.

□: what an honour! jacob kiszka called me cool! yeah, it's totally fine. i thought you were pretty cool yourself :).

with that, she forced herself out of bed to head downstairs for breakfast. the smell of eggs filled the house, and it made cecelia's stomach grumble. stepping off the last step, she greeted her mother. "mornin', mama. breakfast smells divine." she grabbed plates from the cupboard, setting three spots, before placing down silverware.

"good morning to you too, peach." she called back, her father coming into the kitchen from collecting the newspaper.

"mornin', peach." he pulled his daughter into a side hug, before taking his seat. "get your old man a cup of coffee, would ya?"

"sure thing, papa." the smile that graced her lips seemed to have never left.

she grabbed a ceramic mug from the cabinet, pouring the hot liquid into it from the coffee keraff. she placed the mug in front of her father, before taking her seat at the round table.

her mother divied out the breakfast, and cecelia waited patiently for her to sit so she could eat. mrs. raine set the pan on the counter, before grabbing her own coffee. she took her usual place at the table, and placed a napkin over her lap. "go on now, dig in." said her mother, smiling sweetly at her small family.

almost immediately, cecelia had a bite on her fork, and into her mouth. then she remembered. she had to tell her parents about yesterday! she quickly choked down the warm, fluffy eggs, before clearing her throat. "i made some friends yesterday!" she beamed, her smile taking up most of her face. her parents returned the gesture. "four to be exact- three of them are brothers. one's a close friend."
