Song one: Be Kind (stripped) by Marshmello and Halsey
After my panic attack, Yoongi and I stayed on the bathroom floor for at least another ten minutes. Once my breathing evened out, he asked me if I was ready to go lay down. I nodded and he shifted me partially off of his lap so that we could get up from the increasingly uncomfortable tile.
I held on to his neck as he slowly stood us up, him carefully holding on to my waist to make sure I was steady. He grabbed my hand with his and laced our fingers together, giving me pause. We had already had quite a bit of uninterrupted skin contact while we were in the bathroom together but the simple act of him holding my hand shot butterflies through my stomach.
He tugged on my hand and led me out of the bathroom and into the hallway. It was strangely quiet in the apartment, so I wondered if everyone had left. I was a bit mortified at the thought that everyone knew I had a breakdown in the bathroom. What a great first impression. I only hoped they'd let me apologize later.
We made our way to Yoongi's room, and he pushed the door open, leading me inside. He had his bedside lamp on, giving the room a soft glow. I inhaled the citrusy scent, immediately feeling a touch more at ease. He pulled me over to the bed and turned to look at me.
Feeling self-conscious, I tugged my hand out of his and began twisting my fingers together. I was pretty sure that he had given me enough soul touch to see me through the night, so I decided to give him his space. I mean, he already had to take care of me during my meltdown earlier. I was sure that he had to be utterly sick of me.
"I'm so sorry you had to see that. I'm going to sleep somewhere else tonight. I'm sure you'd like to be alone after all of that," I croaked out, before I turned to walk back out of the room.
But Yoongi stopped me by gently pushing on my shoulders until I fell down on the end of the bed. My shoulders instantly tensed. What did he want? Was he going to bitch me out for causing a scene?
I braced myself and glanced up at him, but I found him looking back at me with the softest expression I had ever seen on his face. My bewilderment must have shown on my face because he sighed, before squatting down in front of me.
"Are you okay now? You seem better, you feel better, but I have some Xanax over here if you need it," he said worriedly. He stood and went over to his nightstand and yanked the drawer open causing several pills bottles to rattle around.
"No, it's passed. Thank you though," I told him quietly.
He nodded slowly and closed the drawer before coming back to crouch down in front of me again. He didn't seem to be in a hurry to say anything else and the silence between us began to stretch out uncomfortably. I licked my dry lips and decided to take advantage of his complete 180 attitude.
"How did you know?" I asked, furrowing my brow at him.
He pursued his lips and looked down at the floor for a moment before locking eyes with me again, his deep brown eyes serious.
"I felt you."
"You...felt me?"
"Yes. I was arguing with Hobi when I felt an overwhelming feeling of terror and desperation. It was-" he broke off and took a shuddering breath, "it was fucking awful. Then I heard you crying out for help. It was so clear. It was almost as if you were right there in front of me. I think that I actually felt a tug on my conscious leading me towards you, so I followed the pull. I didn't mean to kick the in the door, but it was locked, and we could hear you sobbing. Something told me I just had to get in there. Sorry, if that scared you."
I swallowed the lump in my throat, trying desperately not to cry again but it was a losing battle. I didn't think I had ever heard that many words come out of his mouth at one time. I searched his eyes for any signs of mockery but all I saw was grim sincerity.
