Falling

T/W: Suicide Attempt

Kaveh's POV

I can see it.

The bridge, I am going to die on...

I slowly walk toward the back gates of Sumeru City, closer and closer to my death.

As I step onto the bridge, my legs start to shake. I begin to feeling nervous, but I cannot back down now. I continue to walk to the middle of the bridge. As I get to the height of the bridge, I turn my head and look out to Mawtiyima Forest, "such a beautiful place, glowing and bright", I think, then look back down to my feet, and over to the edge of the bridge.

Slowly and carefully I start taking small footsteps toward the edge of the bridge. I step onto the mossy vines holding up the bridge. They felt soft and, slick from the pouring rain. I step right to the edge of the vines, and look down into the small stream, suddenly the height of the bridge feels greater than all the other times I had walked over it to get to The Palace of Alcazarzaray, with all the work men, and Akademiya students.

I look back to the city, and see Alhaitham standing at the gate, soaking wet, a worried and panicked look on his face.

Alhaitham's POV (Kaveh is taking steps onto the vines and is near the edge)

The back gate, there's a bridge there, he's super familiar with that bridge so it doesn't take much for him to get there, he has to be there!

As soon as the realization hits, my body starts running before I know it.

"Please wait for me Kaveh!" I think to myself as I run down Treasure Street, past the Residential Area and Hospital. Past Dori's store and to the back gate.

I stop at the back gate, as I see Kaveh standing on the edge of the bridge, looking over to the Mawtiyima Forest. 

His face holds a soft expression of acceptance, as if he's accepted the idea fully into his mind that he wants to die. He steps to the edge and looks down at the stream below, a small scared expression flashes across his face, and then returns to his face of acceptance.

Kaveh looks back up and turns his head to the city for a last look, he sees me, a shocked and scared expression immediately grasps his face.

I carefully walk toward Kaveh, who is standing on the edge of the bridge vines, I have my hands out in front of me gesturing, that I won't hurt him and to just calm down.

Kaveh's face starts to soften once again, his mouth curves into a small smile, he quietly says "sorry...", I didn't hear him, but I could tell what he was saying from reading his lips.

I was just a couple meters from Kaveh now, he hadn't moved while I was approaching him. Suddenly a strong wind blows through, making Kaveh lose his balance, and fall backwards off the bridge.

"Kaveh!" I shout as I run straight off the bridge, going after Kaveh.

Kaveh's POV

"Alhaitham was coming close to me. He's going to catch me. No, no, no. He can't, I'm trying to stop him from suffering because of my annoyance, why is he trying to stop me from leaving this world!? He'll be happy once I leave."

"Nevermind, at least I get to see him one last time before I die. Heh." I think to myself, my face changes to a soft smile.

"Sorry" I say quietly, knowing that he wouldn't hear me.

Suddenly, a strong wind blows through, across the bridge, pushing me off the edge.

"Haha, the end has come huh?" I think to myself as I fall.

The wind rushing through my hair feels so nice and soothing, my clothes flapping in the wind of the fall, the rain hitting my face, I close my eyes softly, and brace myslef for the ground to connect with my back and take me away into the abyss.

It's so quiet... So calm and tranquil.... 

"Kaveh!" I hear my name being called, by a familiar voice. I open my eyes to see Alhaitham, hurtling towards me head first. Tears streaming back from his eyes.

Since Alhaitham is falling towards me head first, he reaches me quickly. 

As he reaches me, he hugs me and holds me mid air.

"I'm sorry" he says quietly, those two words, break me.

Tears spill from my eyes, and float upwards.

Suddenly I feel, my body move quickly upwards. Alhaitham connects onto a Four-Leafed Sigil and is pulling both of us up.

As we reach the top of the Four-Leaf Sigil, Alhaitham opens his glider, and flies us over to the small hill that holds up the opposite side of the bridge too Sumeru City.

As soon as our feet touch the ground, Alhaitham's glider closes and, both our legs buckle and collapse underneath us.

Alhaitham's head is hung low, and I'm just look down at his hair. Tears are spilling from my eyes, but it's hard to tell, from the rain.

"Why would you do that, you idiot!?" Alhaitham raises his voice at me, his head still hung low.

"Why!?" He repeats, this time bringing his head up, you could see he had been crying. His eyes were red, and his voice was cracking.

"Wait, Alhaitham was crying? He was crying? Was he crying because I tried to kill myself?" I think to myself, as I stare at Alhaitham's face.

"I... umm... uhhh" I can't talk; I am still in a depressed mind set, I can only stutter.

"You don't have to tell me yet, if you don't want to Kaveh", Alhaitham says softly, as he pulls me into another tight hug. "Just don't try to leave again... please... I need you", He whispers into my shoulder.

"Pardon? Alhaitham needs me?? No. I must have heard wrong. Alhaitham doesn't need me, he's never needed me... Never", I think to myself, as I lift my arms a little to rest them on Alhaitham's chest.

Alhaitham was practically wrapped around my whole body, not daring to let go, incase I try to leave again.
