"Damnit, where's Meredith?" Derek asked Alex. Meredith's shift had started a while ago

"I haven't seen her, maybe something is up with Webber?" Alex said, knowing she had been there a few times lately

"I tried calling them, no one's picking up. I really hope she's okay, I'll kill Ellis if she hurts her again." Derek angrily spat out

"Easy. If she isn't here in an hour then you can freak out." Alex put his hand on Derek's shoulder

"Damnit, I should go." Derek sighs and gotnpaged to the ER

Derek quickly mede his way over to the pit and heard two people he knew very well

"Damnit, Richard!" He heard Ellis scold

"Ellis-" Richard tried stopping her but was violently coughing

"Richard? Are you okay?" Derek runs up to his father in law

Richard weakly nods while Teddy places an oxygen mask over his face

"Dr Shepherd? Can you take a look at this woman?" An intern asks, trying to hold Ellis still

"This woman?! I am doctor Grey and I need to go do a surgery! Amateurs!" She started yelling

"Ell-" Richard tried to stop her but was physically unable to

"Richard, have you seen Mer?" Derek asked worriedly while grabbing a sedative for Ellis so he could check her out, it wouldn't have been the first time she hurted herself as her alzheimer had gotten worse

"N-No. She left- She left a while ago." Richard frowns, immediately worried about his little girl

"It's okay, I bet she's just stuck in traffic." Derek immediately said, although he was unable to hide his own worries

"D-Derek-" Alex runs up to him, not even being aware it was Richard in the patient bed. "You need to come." Alex said and lead his friend to the side

"What the hell is wrong? I was busy." Derek crossed his arms

"It's Meredith-" Alex said, his eyes watery. "Shens being brought in-"

"What?" Derek's eyes flew open, immediately running outside to wait until she would arrive

Did she fall? Did she have an accident? Did she help and get injured?

So many things could be going on but he had absolutely no idea

"Meredith Grey, 31 year old female, car accident got completely T boned. Possible internal bleeding, spine or head injuries, left side is completely crushed and hasn't been conscious at all." One of the ambulance people announced, Ben Warren jumping out of the rig with her

"Oh god-" Derek gasped, completely zoning out as he saw Meredith, the love of his life, lying lifelessly on the stretcher, blood everywhere and big bulky braces strapped around her hurt body

"Come with me, let them do their jobs-" Ben said and tried to pull Derek to the side, Alex immediately following Meredith and the other doctors to the OR as they'd immediately have to open her up

"W-What happened? How long did it take before she got here?" Derek asks worried

"She got T-boned. A drunk driver ignored a red light, her side was completely crushed. We had to cut her out but it took a while.." Ben said, feeling guilty for not being able to do better

"Possible brain damage.. possibly paralyzed.. not to mention how her left side was looking.." Derek mutters, thinking of all the possibilities

"Shit- Richard-" Derek suddenly realized. "Can- Can you check on him? He got brought in-" Derek sighed, running his hand through his hair

"I will, are you sure? I can stay with you. Or I can send someone else." Ben suggests

"Everyone will be busy. Amy is probably working on Mer.. Please don't tell Richard about Meredith yet. He'd worry too much." Derek said and waited until Ben left to go see if he could find out more about Meredith.

He made his way up to the OR floor and entered the gallery. No student there was paying attention to him as everyone was focussed on the surgeons moving as quick and efficient as possible to save Meredith

Derek felt his stomach turn as he heard them saying what was wrong

"Meredith-" He then stood up, walking to the window as he saw what was happening

"Blood pressure is dropping-" He heard Bailey say

"Amelia, did you get that brain bleed under control?" Jackson asked, seeing Meredith's stats were dropping

"Almost-" Amelia mutters as Meredith starts flatlining. "Got it, we need to get her back. Now." She yelled and then noticed her brother up in the gallery

"Amy-" Derek whispers, knowing his sister couldn't hear him as the intercom was turned off

"She'll be okay." Amelia mouths from underneath her mask, she would do everything for her brother's big love

Derek ran out of the gallery, he couldn't see this anymore, he needed to be where Meredith would love to be. He made his way over to the new born babies and completely broke down in front of the window, tears falling down as he couldn't erase the memory of how Meredith was being cut open on that table

A long time had passed by, he had ignored all pages, he was physically frozen until he heard Ben's voice

"Richard got admitted, he was too low on oxygen but he will be okay. They brought Ellis to a nursing home as I told them what happened to Meredith." He explains

Derek could only nod, barely moving his head an inch

"Derek- I got news!" Alex then ran in as well, Ben had paged him earlier
