I'll start with the eldest children. If memory serves me right, the first five that probably could remember me were Bahiyyih, Mingyun, Somi, Minhyuk and Jaehwan. They were young when I first met them, I think Bahiyyih was still a teen. I was nearly forty, I believe. And it was messy.

The five should remember my friends. Something happened with Yeji's family, so she moved to join the rest of the gifted, Chaeryeong too, but that was because she wanted to settle down somewhere stable and comfortable. Kai went back too, mostly because he was tired of the messy politics. We always told him he shouldn't have even tried to dip his toes into politics but we couldn't stop him.

Then it was just me who was still living in the human world. Jisu, Chaeryeong and Kai, they all pleaded with me, told me I should stay with them. Especially because the government's started underground testing. For the children new to this, we lived in a messed up world. That's why we took you away from it, so you'd be safer and happier. I suppose you don't even know what government means.

But I didn't want to stay with them. I can't even explain it. I do admit that having to shuttle between the human world and the gifteds' hideout was exhausting. But I didn't want to give up my life in the human world. I had a job, I had a life and I had friends.

Then everything fell apart.
