It was a sunny but windy Thursday. She was wearing a tee which had black stripes on it, faded black jeans and overalls of the same colour. She had a high pony tail on like always, but nonetheless, it was beautiful. A month and half before boards, we had to attend mock tests. We finished the test and submitted the answer sheets. After getting our papers signed, we sat in a place a little away from the front gate of the school. We were peacefully waiting for a cab, and just then, a guy started flirting with her. I wanted to beat him up so I could protect her, but I saw that she was ignoring him and he eventually left us alone. I felt bad for not fighting for her, but I was much happier that she dealt with him like a pro.

She still wasn't interested in talking to me, but things were much better than before. She had started opening up a bit again and I felt relieved. She was sitting there worried about the keys to her house which she had left in her dad's car, and it was cute seeing her that way. She complained about the sun, how it was so hot and she didn't like it, how the heat made her skin all red and itchy, just everything. She joked around a bit and I was happy seeing this child-like side of her open up in front of me.

Once the cab arrived, we got in and spoke about many things on that ride home. We talked about what our names meant, about the epic story of Mahabharat (Sanskrit epic of ancient India), her Instagram bio, our zodiac signs and what not. The feeling was extremely nice. I loved talking to her, adding on to the fact that for the first time in a long while, she was interested in talking to me and getting to know more about me.

We reached home and she came to my house. That was the first time she had ever gone there and I was very excited to show her around. My didi (elder sister) cut up some fruits for us and kept it on the table. We spoke for a while at my house too. We talked about how cute I looked when I was a kid, how she loved my level of confidence and so much more. After some time, my didi went to take a bath, leaving just the two of us in the room. Being a good host, I asked her if she would like to have something else, and that's when she told me that she had been craving for some ice cream. I was very excited to hear that because her child-like side kept opening up to me and it made me happy that she felt carefree with me.

Having some money saved up, I ordered the dark chocolate sundae from Keventers. She had mentioned before that her family does not eat any junk food or anything from outside, even if it was healthy. She had said before that she hadn't ate outside food in over half a year. This was a big opportunity for me to see her smile like her happiness was never-ending. I absolutely love seeing her smile.

Soon, the ice cream arrived and her excitement was a sight to see. She looked so beautiful. I handed it to her and she enjoyed the desert so much that I felt like I had given her the best gift a person could ever give. Everything faded in the background and she looked so dreamy just sitting there and enjoying the ice cream. I saw her genuinely laugh that day for the first time while I was around. She was laughing at a joke I had made a moment before and I felt like I was on the moon.

She eventually talked about a few others things like her being excited about her sister coming back from hostel to meet her, and she was also worried about her dogs because they had been left in the house for a little too long. We talked for a while and her dad came back, so she had to go home. It was a bummer, but it finally felt like things went back to normal after hanging out with her the whole day. I just wished that this never ended and that hopefully, I could someday talk to her about my true feelings and express my love for her.

I needed her as much as I wanted her. It kept building up my heart and breaking it over again, but I didn't want to stop, not then, not now.
