Bangtan's explanation for each song on the HwaYangYeonHwa album: (sportsseoul, 20/05/15)
Track #1 = Intro: HwaYangYeonHwa (2min 3sec, lyricist/composer: Slow Rabbit, Suga)
SG: I rap alone for 2 minutes and 3 seconds. I contemplated about the album's theme of "youth". Youth is brilliant and beautiful but there are dark parts too, I wrote the lyrics after organizing these thoughts.
Track #2 = I NEED U (3min 31sec, lyricist/composer: Pdogg, Bang Sihyuk, Rap Monster, Suga, J-hope, Brother Su)
RM: Since it's the title track of the album this time around, we have to express our album theme through it well. It's a track with oriental and emotional touches so it gives a different feel compared to our previous title tracks. The melody is clearly more lyrical. The lyrics of wanting to hold on to a dying love, is a popular content but I saw that it could be an element of entering youth. Because a love that goes till the end is like fire that bursts into flames then dies. Youth too, sparkles but withers someday, so I thought there are similar points. Precariousness and anxiety rather than the beauty of youth, so we focused on those wavering parts.
Track #3 = Hold Me Tight (4min 35sec, lyricist/composer: Slow Rabbit, Pdogg, V, Rap Monster, Suga, J-hope)
V: It's my debut track as a lyricist and composer. It's a track that uses a polished piano melody as it's base. If our previous title track Boy In Luv confessed with overflowing spirit "hold on to me tight!", in 'Hold Me Tight' we expressed the image of a man who's become small in front of love, begging "Hold Me Tight". The genre is contemporary R&B hip-hop.
Track #5 = Sick (4min 0sec, lyricist/composer: Pdogg, Kusi Bangmangi, Bang Sihyuk, Rap Monster, Suga, J-hope)
JH: "Jjeonda" is a saying that's often used recently. But in this song, we use "jjeonda" with a slightly different meaning. It symbolizes that even as time passes, BTS lives being damn awesome at practicing and working. We tried to unravel the expression of "jjeonda" in our own style. It's a strong electronic hip-hop song with trendy pop elements, so it's a really exciting track.
Track #6 = Heungtan Sonyeondan (4min 4sec, lyricist/composer: Suga, Pdogg, Rap Monster, J-hope, Jin, Jimin, V, Bang Sihyuk)
SG: Among the nicknames fans have stuck onto us there's Heungtan Sonyeondan, so this is a song that was made with the thought of what would it be like to take that nickname and write a song with it... Originally, even when I was just making the beat, I wanted to try a bright and exciting song. But substituting in the idea and wording of Heungtan Sonyeondan, matched well and an exciting song emerged. We revealed it first at our concert and it turned out to be exciting. It was fun, and I was satisfied.
Track #7 = Converse High (3min 29sec, lyricist/composer: Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, Rap Monster, Suga, J-hope)
RM: I originally like "girls who wear converse high". This was a track I produced for my first mixtape that was revealed last March, but the PD like it so it ended up being put into this album. Since it's actually my personal song, I'll admit I feel slightly sorry towards the other members. If sports shoes-related personnels hear this song, wouldn't they send me a pair of sports shoes? There's this kind of expectations. Of course, if I become a CF model, that seems to be even better.
