Chapter 7

The Village story teller sat at the foot of Selah's bed. Selah her 12 year old tent attendee who was cuddled in ber arms much like Selah did her mother was under the sheet excited to hear the fable from the book. The sketch artist gave every one smoking ice mint & lemon water to enjoy during the story.

The story teller closed the tent flaps closing out sunlight. She lit candles around the tent before starting. The story teller opened the 1000 page book to the story of Dawoo.

Are we ready sisters?  They nodded yes excitedly.

This is the story of Dawoo

Daewoo was a trickster one to be careful of. When the Banshee Gods were young and men were allowed to be Banshees Daewoo was a Banshee Prince a young God. He walked this realm with his sister's and brother's who were also Banshee. Dawoo being the eldest son was to take his fathers position upon his rising.

Dawoo spent his days dilly dallying in the hills and frolicking amongst the animals and flowers. One day as he walked the mountains and hills he walked into a cave he should not have. He met a woman a witch who promised him everything. Dawoo asked what do you give a Banshee prince who is promised the seat of a king. The witch knowing his heart whispered freedom from this realm. The freedom to live and walk this world as you please without care or responsibility of people that you did not birth.

Freedom to live free. Dawoo tempted by the witch asked what he had to give in place for this gift. The witch replied your love. Dawoo nodded agreeing to something he did not know the depth. After all the witch was gorgeous her beauty was unmatched by any princess offered to him. Dawoo cut his hand mixing his blood with hers. Together they drank the blood entering an unbreakable blood oath.

Dawoo came down from the mountain with his new bride his father and all the elders shocked he cleaved unto a woman he knew nothing of. Soon the king of Banshees died Dawoo was to take the throne but he declined passing the seat to his brother because he was to travel the world with his bride as she promised.

This angered his bride she wanted to be Queen and would stop at nothing to become so. Dawoo seeing her upset remained as king but mysteriously illness befell him. Knowing his wife was poisoning him but unable to prove it Dawoo sought his ancestors. He begged them for forgiveness and they forgave him but they also gave him a way out a way to spite his wife.

Dawoo sought counsel with the rising spirits they approved his idea Dawoo smiled thanking them for help and wise counsel. Upon his death bed Dawoo's brother sat by his bedside three days fasting for the passing of the Banshee spirit. When he died it is said he died with a smile upon his face. Even in his soul rising boat that smile remained.

When Dawoo exhaled the Banshee spirit howled louder then anyone ever heard some say the rising Banshee screamed his revenge. The sound killed his wife instantly she fell dying at his feet. The white smoke spirit left the tent creating a great tornado in the middle of the village. The spirit went into a tent dust followed it everyone in the village ran to the tent to see where the Banshee spirit went.

When they cracked the fabric a baby screamed and cried in pain tiny horns were fastened into her skull. The Banshee Gods granted his wish a commoner a female infant was blessed with the Banshee spirit. He asked a man never lead the Banshee again because men have roaming hearts unlike a woman. His brother being angry separated the men and women proclaiming a banshee woman is never to marry to spite Dawoo in death just in case he returned for a bride.

It is said Dawoo is free and one day he shall return to claim the bride he never had one to love him and one he shall love unconditional. He earned the name trickster because of the great banshee switch he pulled putting the blessing of the banshee in the hands of a common child. That child was your grandmother ten generations back Selah.

Now Dawoo the young god banshee prince is back to claim what he lost love and a bride and a family that woman is you Selah.

The tent was quiet Selah laughed thank goodness it is a fairy tale. The story teller turned the book to her is this the man you saw my Queen?

Selah held her chest her eyes big as apples yes it is.
