He should have seen the signs

From when his fur turned from brown to blue

How he keeps passing out randomly

How he keeps waking up with bruises and cuts

How he never remembers things that the others do

It should have been so clear sooner

[Earlier that day]

Nicky is walking down the street after saying bye to his girlfriend, Amy. He continues to walk until he started to feel a familiar feeling. It was a feeling of nausia and dizziness. And then nothing.

Sonic was having a regular battle with eggman. He destroyed some bots, said some quips and was ready to send eggman back to his lair until a weird feeling overcame him. Sonic stumbles a bit before passing out.

"Sleeping during a battle, rodent?"

Nicky wakes up from those all too familiar blackouts. He's covered in cuts and bruises and a familiar sight is standing before him.

"O-officer?"

Except he was different. He was wearing a bright red flight suit along with large goggles. He laughs out loud.

"You think that transforming back will stop me, hedgehog?"

"What??"

"Don't play dumb with me boy! I know that you're Sonic!"

He freezes.

"What are you on about?"

"Don't you understand, rodent? You're that blue menace!"

Nicky still doesn't move. This can't be right. He's just an ordinary hedgehog. He can't be the hero Sonic. He's a wimp! He can't even stand up for himself, let alone others.

He ran farther and farther away from eggman, running to the edges of hedgehog village. He stops, realising he's too far away from home. Eggmans words are stuck in his head. Is he really Sonic? He has changed quite a bit since the hero first appeared. His fur isn't even the right colour anymore!

He needs some time to really think about this
