Since Finney had killed the grabber he didn't stop seeing hearing and interacting with the ghost boys and even though his dad promised he would do better and get sober less than a month after Finn came back Finney in his dad's words got his ass handed to him for talking to Gwen about having a conversation with Robin but Finney was still glad to be able to commune with them all he had surprisingly grown closer to Vance and Griffin too he cared about them all and even if some were too prideful and arrogant to admit it cared about him too but still Finney was depressed he couldn't physically touch any of them he desperately wanted to hug them or just know they were physically in the same room especially Robin he was still traumatized from when they made him confirm his body he desperately wanted to go back in time but knew he couldn't he tried not to dwell on these impossible fantasies but couldn't they always came to his mind "what if" that's all Finney could think of when he thought of them what if he went home with Robin that night what if he asked Bruce to hang out after the game what if he warned the kids not to bump into Vance's game what if he waited outside for the paper what if he befriended griffin what would've changed he blamed himself for their deaths more than he'd like to admit he blamed himself for Robins death the most he was supposed to go with him after school but he didn't because of his dad his stupid deadbeat worthless dad he hated him but he couldn't help but care the ghost boys always knew Finney blamed himself even if Finn never said it out loud they knew they had given up any hope and focus on Finney until gweny saw a book one day in the library a book on witchcraft she would've never checked it out or looked twice if it didn't have "Christian Witchcraft" in bold golden letters on the spine she decided on her better judgment to pick it up the check it out of the library she flipped through the pages slowly until something caught her eye how to bring someone back to life she looked at it and read through how to do it and what it detailed it would involve sending the ghost boys back in time to save themselves and Finney "holy shit" that was all Gwen could say the library lady berated her she quietly said sorry and read further it was fairly simple she just needed to ask Finney and then ask Finney to ask the boys
