"hi grace it's charlotte"
"Call me back when you're available"
"I just want to talk"
"I know things are weird right now but-"
"Just call me back or text me when we can talk"
"Hopefully talk to you soon"

There was no success when charlotte called Gracie, the phone went to voicemail and that was a new experience for Charlotte especially when it came to Gracie. All charlotte could do was wait it out, at least that was all charlotte was going to do cause she didn't know what else to do without making the situation worse

"hi mama, i missed you"

Charlotte placed the newly bought flowers next to the headstone and sat down feeling empty. She had rarely visited alone, she always had Gracie to accompany her on these trips but now she had no one.

"It's been awhile but i know you're still here "
"I just wanted to talk"

"I just feel so alone and scared"
"I haven't seen dad in awhile"
"And ever since i left, moneys been tight for me"
"I just feel stuck"
"I just wish you were here right now so you could tell me what to do"

"and you remember Gracie right?"
"Yeah okay so her and I aren't really on good terms now"
"We kissed and now she wont talk to me"
"And you know what?"
"She is the one who kissed me"

"I just don't know what i did wrong"
"C'mom mama, talk to me, give me a sign, tell me what to do"
"I just wanted to be with Gracie all the time but its not mutual"
"It's so scary cause she's all i have left"
"Every time i look at her and remember she doesnt want anything to do with me, i want to join you"
"its all so much but i feel so little"
"I don't want to go back, i wish i could stay with you forever"
"mama, I don't know what to do"
"i wish you were here to tell me what to do"
"if you're here right now, give me a sign"

Just as charlotte had asked her mom to give her a sign, an answer, anything, a flash of lighting and thunder boomed as the rain started to patter all around.

Okay, that's my sign to get out of here...
Thanks mom, not the sign i wanted but thanks for trying I guess

Charlotte made her way towards the entrance of the cemetery onto the sidewalk but not before slipping on a puddled patch of grass. Fuck. The pain of landing on her wrist traveled through her body as her tears blended with the heavy downpour. If this was actually the sign her mom was trying to giving her, she was going to sleep on the highway tonight.
