Esther's pov

Richard called me to his study after breakfast. He had something important to tell me, so now I am here. Eric and Elijah are also here. We all stand quietly.

"Esther, when you are here, you should obey some rules," he said.
"What rules?" I asked him. Rules for me. Interesting. These people come up with something new every day for my entertainment.

He gave me a paper with rules.
"Read this and obey," he said while handing over the piece of paper.

RULES

1: You should be home before 9:00 pm.
2: You should respect your elders.
3: You shouldn't drink or smoke.
4: You won't bring boys to this house or hook up with them outside.
5: You should answer any question we ask politely and never curse.
6: You shouldn't create unnecessary problems here.
7: You should consider us as your family.
8: You should inform any one of us wherever you go.
9: You should be with us.
10: You should be the old Esther and start loving us again.

I read each of the rules he made for me.

"Should I sign at the end?" I mocked them. They want me to be the poor thing who will be a doormat for others. They want that old Esther who will smile through her pain. What a dream.

"You will keep the rules, right?" he asked.

"Of course not," I said, which made his eyes widen. I am different now, Dad.

"What are you saying?" Elijah asked. Fuck off, Elijah.

"Don't put your head in my matters, Elijah," I warned him. His shouting will never scare me. There was a time, but not now.

Richard looked at me.

"First, if I want, I will be outside for the whole night. Second, I don't respect based on age. If they deserve it, then it's fine. Third, I drink and smoke as I wish. Fourth, I don't have any friends here, and if I find any, I will hang out with them, whether they are boys or girls. Fifth, I will answer the fucking questions I want. The sixth, I don't know about unnecessary problems. Family doesn't make me laugh in the morning. What is this eighth? No way. Why would I inform you? Ninth and tenth are so ironic.
"You guys sent me from here, right?" I was walking through the room. Their eyes were traveling to me.

"You should keep these laws if you want to live here," Eric said. "You are a comedy piece here, Eric."

"Nonsense. I never wanted to be here," I threw the paper at Eric's face. He was surprised.

"Esther," it was a pained voice of Richard. "I am not that eleven-year-old girl, Richard. Don't forget it when you are talking to me," I saw a sad look on his face. But you made me like this, dear dad. You killed the innocent Esther. Innocent people are not needed in this cruel world.

The morning meeting ruined my mood, so I thought of going shopping. I took my car and drove outside. I asked my app to help me with directions.

I made a small purchase and had a coffee. The air was fresh. I was walking to the car when my eyes caught sight of a familiar figure.

It was Aaron Hilster. Then let me say a sweet "hi." I walked towards him.

"Hi, Mr. Hilster," I acted so surprised to see him. Well, I am surprised. I never expected this encounter. "Hi Esther," he said, looking up from his phone. He put the phone in his pocket. "What are you doing here?" he asked me. "Well, I have some shopping," I said, which made him amused. What is there to get amused about? I thought. "You only bought this?" he asked with a surprised look. We buy what we want, right? "I only wanted a few items," I asked with a wink.

"Are you here alone?" he asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"I have no friends here," I added.
"Why?" he asked. Oh, don't make me tell my whole story. "I was not here for many years," I answered.

"Oh! Then what will you do in your free time?" he asked.
"In my free time, I sit freely," I answered, which made him laugh.
"What free time is to be free, and if you do something in your free time, then it will not be free time," I explained to the handsome man in front of me.

"I am impressed with your logic," he said as he tried to stop his laughter.
"Only impressed by my logic," I moved closer to him.
"What else should I be impressed by?" he asked, his smile gone. Now his voice was deep. I moved backwards and spun around to get a full view of myself.
"Anything," I said.

"Are you trying to seduce me?" he asked, well aware of what I was doing.
"What do you think?" My hands slid onto his, slowly moving upward. He pulled my hand, causing me to fall onto his chest. I felt his hard muscles. He lifted my chin to look directly into his eyes. I was momentarily stunned by his actions.

"Let's see," he said and walked away, leaving me behind. I saw a car parking in the garage. It was Sara's new car. So he came to meet her.

I stayed by the car and observed them. They talked at the entrance, and after a while, they went in opposite directions. Is this how a couple who is about to get married acts?

I drove to the house where I am currently living. There was no one waiting for me. No one to ask how my day was. I went straight to my room. The place was not welcoming. Not for me. The looks they gave me were hurting me day by day. But I had to endure all of this for myself.

Don't forget to like and comment friends.
