This is based off the tale of Oedipus Rex. I do not own Oedipus Rex. But this is my ideal vision of the Greek gods messed with his fate and to punish the three gods Zeus set a curse so humanity would never forget this tale. :) Tell me if you like or what not

WARNING: if you have not read Oedipus Rex ( I suggest you do) you will probably not get this.

Apollo

Laius was a stubborn fool,

He cursed himself to the fate.

“Apollo” He said as if a curse “God of sun I only pray to myself! My people worship me as if I were a God, making myself more powerful!”

His intoxicated words boiled my soul,

The fool of a king would pay.

A curse was set in stone for him,

All I had to do was wait until the day he visit my temple,

As my oracle spoke the words that were like honey to my ear.

“Your son will grow to kill you by his eighteenth year of life” She said softly “he will beat you to death and take over your kingdom and thrown. Showing the dastardly coward you are!” She screamed as she smiled gently at him and said in a haze “The sun God promises you that”.

For nine months I watched the mothers belly grow,

Until the day the newborn arrived, I cracked a grin.

The coward took the baby from the weeping mother,

Binding his feet together like it was nothing.

He threw him out of the kingdom,

But the messenger made a horrible mistake.

Day by day,

Breath by breath.

The fate and curse grew stronger,

And my revenge would live on!

Everything was a quite whisper to Zeus,

Zeus wrath would be a roaring fire compared to mine.

Only I Apollo, would know my revengeful secret.

Athena

Lauis was a prideful man, he dared cursed one god but two!

“A women, being the Goddess of hunting?” He spat “Ha! I would never believe it!”

He spoke drunk on wine,

But I screamed at his words as others laughed with him.

With anger flamed I set a dreadful curse!

The land of Thebes would suffer

With one of my powerful creations!

Sphinx would show everybody the true king they had,

A weak drunken fool!

If the coward fled the city, a great hunter nearby would kill him on the spot.

His words would pay with blood!

Silencing the city cries and pleas,

Zeus would know nothing of what I was planning.

Only I Athena, would know my secret wrath.

Aphrodite

Soft weeps were whispered in my ear for eighteen years,

Finally I stopped to listen to the voice as it had been louder the ever.

I looked upon a weeping woman by her bed post,

“Oh beautiful Goddess, oh holder of love,

Hades himself is not as cruel as the man I was forced to love.

I dreamed of  my baby,

Night after night,

The bloody little feet,

The path of death.

Oh please Goddess hear my word,

The man is a murderer, I want no more!”

Her words made my heart sob, as I felt the women’s pain.

I smiled as I set her into her fate that she would find love.

A young brave hero,

With a heart pure as gold.

They would fall in love no matter the cost.

Without Zeus knowing, I kept my mouth shut.

Only I Aphrodite would know, the secret love.

Zeus

The three gods were children,

Stupid  ignorant children.

They hid nothing from me as I watched their crimes.

I knew everything they tried to hide!

Smiling I set my fate into the boy,

Looking like a drunk, I told him the words of truth.

The fear and denial in his eyes were almost worth the trouble.

Happily I watched him fall into the God’s trapped flaws.

I hid my wrath perfectly until the plague crossed Thebes.

I watched the tragedy unfold,

As the three Gods watched with their heads hung low.

The rest of the gods watched their mistake as well,

Stuck in complete awe as I said with a yell,

“I am always right, no matter the cost!

I set upon a curse right now!

No human or god will ever forget this,

The tale Of Oedipus Rex!"
