The Second Cat (A Fruits Basket Fan Fic)

I'm alone

I can remember only one thing when I was born, me being alone. I had parents, but they rejected me, so this is my story.

*flashback*

I was born. My mother held me first and the doctor left us alone for a half hour. She stroked my soft brown hair and held me tightly. My mother let my father hold me, but the second he held my waste, I heard a poofing sound and a cloud of light blue smoke scattered around myself, my mother and father. A few seconds later the light blue cloud of smoke faded away and my parents looked at me. My mother fainted after she saw me and my father continued to stare at me. He might have been saying, this is my daughter, no it can't be this is a cat. His eyes filled with tears and he set me down on ground. He sat next to my mother, who just awoke from fainting, and they both cried quietly. Moments later I transformed back into a human. My mother wrapped me in my clothes, and the doctor came in a couple of minutes later. They gave a certificate to my parents that said, Nikki Arita.

A few days passed, and my mother was always around me. I hardly saw my father and I loved him very much. I couldn't do anything, I was an infant, who turned into a cat when my father hugs me.

A year has gone by and I was one. My parents hid me from the world, and I only saw my family on my birthday. I overheard my parents talking, but I could hardly understand them. They said something about night, cat, leave. I didn't understand the rest, but I knew it wasn't good. A few days later, my parents said they wanted to take me out for a stroll. They walked me over to the forest, at night, and my mother turned around and cried, my father did the same but stopped, and began to yell.

"YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE FAMILY. HOW CAN ANYONE LIKE A CHILD THAT TURNS INTO AN ANIMAL, A SICK, FOOLISH ANIMAL. I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU IN MY LIFE EVER AGAIN, NOW SCRAM!"

After those words, my parents walked away. I began to cry and I ran, faster than a normal kid, and sat down near a rock by a lake. It was a cold night and I was freezing, why would my parents abandon me. Am I the only one in he world with such a curse. Several minutes later I transformed into a cat. I continued to cry for hours, but I doubt anyone in the world wanted me. This was the end of my life, but if I live then I would be alone, no family, no love, no home. Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming my way, I jumped up in surprise when someone stroked my back. I turned around to look into the persons eyes. I was a long women with long blonde hair, light brown eyes, and had a warm smile.

"Hello little girl." She said happily. I was surprised to see that she called me a girl, but I was a cat. "You might think that I'm crazy calling you a girl, but my 2 daughters also have a curse." I was shocked from the words she said, I wasn't the only one in the world with such a thing. "Did your parents reject you?" She said sadly. I nodded, then she smiled again. "Do you want to come home with me?" I was so happy, and I jumped into her arms. "Come on, I'll introduce you to my daughters." She picked up my clothes, and she walked me toward her house. That day I thought only one day, why was she in the forest anyways?

When we arrived at her home, she opened the door. The house was big and had pretty fine china all around the house. She had a lot of pictures of flowers and some of her family. She put me in a room, which looked like a living room to me, and she left the room. Then she came back with 2 little girls, the one with pink hair jumped up in surprise.

"Mommy got kitty, mommy got kitty!" She excitedly shouted. The other one glared at me. I was happy, I have a family, a home, and now I'm loved for who I am. A second later I transformed back into a human. The pink haired one gasped. "Mommy dat no kitty."

"I know she's not, but she's just like you two. I found her in the forest crying." My new mother said while putting my clothes back on me. "Sweetie, what is your name?"

"Nikki Arita." I said.

"What a pretty name for a beautiful little girl." She said with a warm smiled. I giggled.

That night my mother told me everything about my new sisters. She said Ash, the one with ginger hair, was a fox and Katy, the one with pink hair, was a wolf. She made my bed and I slept with my new sisters. I was glad that I had a family, a home, and some love, and I will never be alone again.
